On a standard 5-amp home socket with the portable charger most scooters include in the box, a full charge typically takes 5–8 hours – perfectly suited to overnight charging. With a dedicated wall box charger (available from most brands at an additional cost), that time drops to 2–4 hours.
Some premium models support even faster DC charging through proprietary networks: Ather’s fast chargers, for example, can bring the 450X to 80% in roughly 1 hour and 15 minutes. For daily commuting in Indian cities, most riders simply plug in before bed and wake up to a fully charged scooter every morning – a far more convenient routine than making trips to a petrol station.
If your daily commute is under 50 km, a nightly home charge is more than sufficient, and you will rarely need a mid-day top-up unless you are doing unusually long distances.
