Absolutely. Modern EVs are engineered to handle rain, wet roads, and even waterlogged stretches with safety. The battery packs and electrical components are fully sealed and meet strict ingress protection (IP) ratings. Most electric scooters and bikes in India carry an IP67 rating on the battery, which means the unit can be submerged in up to one metre of water for 30 minutes without damage.
Electric Cars and premium Electric Scooters often meet even higher standards. The high-voltage cables and connectors are insulated and protected to prevent any risk of electrocution.
Charging ports are also designed with waterproofing in mind. That said, like any vehicle, you should exercise caution in extremely deep water where wheels might lose contact with the road. For typical Indian monsoon conditions – heavy rain, road splashing, short waterlogging – your EV is perfectly safe to use. Manufacturers test rigorously for Indian conditions before launch.
