EV resale values in India are still establishing their patterns, and the picture is mixed depending on model, age, and battery health. Tata EVs – particularly the Nexon EV – have shown the most stable resale figures in the used market, benefiting from strong brand trust, a wide buyer base, and reliable battery warranties that transfer to second owners.
Older models, however, have experienced notable depreciation when newer variants with significantly better range hit the market – early Nexon EV Prime owners saw values drop sharply after the Long Range variant launched. For buyers, this creates an opportunity: well-maintained used EVs from established brands can represent excellent value. For sellers, the lessons are clear: buy current-generation models, maintain battery health diligently, keep service records, and ensure the battery warranty is transferable.
As the used EV market matures and more buyers gain confidence in purchasing pre-owned electric vehicles, resale dynamics will improve. It is a segment worth watching closely over the next 2–3 years.
