Battery warranty is the most critical – the battery is the most expensive component of any EV, and its health directly determines your vehicle’s long-term value and range. Look for a minimum of 3 years or 50,000 km, but ideally 5 years or 60,000–80,000 km.
Leading brands like Ather, TVS, Tata, and Revolt offer 3–8 year battery warranties. Beyond the battery, also check motor warranty (typically 3–5 years for two-wheelers), vehicle warranty (usually 2–3 years), and charger warranty.
Equally important is the after-sales infrastructure – how many authorised service centres does the brand have in your city? How quickly can they diagnose issues? Do they offer OTA (over-the-air) software updates to fix bugs and improve performance remotely? These intangibles matter enormously in day-to-day ownership.
A brand with 10 service centres in your city will always be more convenient than one with a great spec sheet but two outlets.
