For basic mechanical work – tyre replacement, wheel balancing, suspension servicing, brake pad replacement, and general bodywork – most reputable multi-brand garages can handle EVs without issue. These components are broadly similar to petrol vehicles and do not require EV-specific knowledge.
However, anything involving the battery pack, high-voltage electrical system, motor, power electronics, or onboard software should always be taken to the brand’s authorised service centre. EVs carry high-voltage systems – 48V to 400V+ depending on the vehicle – that require trained technicians with proper insulated tools and safety protocols.
Unauthorised centres tampering with these systems risk damaging expensive components, voiding your warranty, and in the worst case, creating serious safety hazards. Most EV brand warranties in India explicitly state that non-authorised intervention on electrical systems voids the battery and motor warranty.
For peace of mind and protection of what is often a ₹50,000–₹2,50,000 battery investment, stick to authorised centres for anything electrical or software-related.
