Exterior
The BYD Seal is arguably the most aerodynamic and visually striking sedan currently on sale in India. Its “Ocean Aesthetics” design language, penned by former Audi designer Wolfgang Egger, focuses on fluid, organic lines. The “Double U” floating LED headlights provide a distinct “X” shaped front profile, while the ripple-effect DRLs on the bumper give it a futuristic glow. The fastback silhouette isn’t just for looks; it allows the car to achieve a drag coefficient of 0.219 Cd, which is vital for reducing wind noise and increasing high-speed efficiency. From the flush door handles to the dot-matrix LED light bar at the rear, every detail feels premium and purposeful.
Interior
Step inside, and you are greeted by a “surround” cockpit that feels more like a modern lounge than a traditional car. The quality of materials, quilted vegan leather, soft-touch Alcantara, and double-stitched surfaces easily rivals premium luxury brands like Audi or BMW. The centerpiece is the 15.6-inch rotating touchscreen, which remains the best conversation starter in the industry. The crystal gear lever is surrounded by high-quality tactile buttons for drive modes and climate, which adds a layer of class. The integrated sports seats offer heating, ventilation, and memory functions, ensuring you stay comfortable regardless of the outside temperature.
Build Quality
The Seal feels exceptionally well put together. It utilises BYD’s Cell-to-Body (CTB) technology, which integrates the Blade Battery directly into the floorpan as a structural member. This doesn’t just save space; it creates a “sandwich” structure that increases torsional rigidity to 40,500 Nm/degree. On the road, this translates to a car that feels “made from a single block.” There are no creaks, no vibrations, and the “thud” from the doors is remarkably solid, rivalling the best European standards.
