The MG Cyberster is an all-electric two-seater roadster and the fastest MG ever built. It also holds the title of the fastest accelerating electric car in Asia. Inspired by the classic MG B Roadster of the 1960s, this modern icon has been aerodynamically enhanced and fine-tuned by former Italian F1 engineer Marco Fainello. The Cyberster is a bold statement from the brand featuring 20-inch alloy wheels, Brembo brakes, and a striking LED light bar.

Design5/5

Exterior

The MG Cyberster is a genuine showstopper. It manages to capture the classic roadster proportions, long hood, short rear deck, and a low-slung stance, while looking completely futuristic. The most talked-about feature is undoubtedly the electronic scissor doors. They operate at the touch of a button and immediately elevate the car into the “exotic” category.

Up front, the “smiling” face is created by sleek LED headlights and a wide lower intake. The rear is equally dramatic, featuring arrow-shaped LED taillights and a full-width light bar that emphasises its width. The fabric soft top is a piece of engineering art; it can open or close in just 10 seconds at speeds up to 50 km/h. Whether the roof is up or down, the Cyberster looks balanced and purposeful.

Interior

The cabin is heavily driver-centric, often described as a “fighter-jet cockpit.” The wrap-around dashboard is finished in high-quality materials, including Nappa leather and Dinamica suede. Because of the battery pack positioned on the floor, you sit slightly higher than in a traditional petrol sports car, but the seats are incredibly supportive and plush. The layout feels intimate and premium, though the lack of physical buttons for basic tasks like AC adjustment might frustrate some.

Build Quality

MG has clearly stepped up its game. The Cyberster feels “hewn from a single block.” There are no creaks from the chassis, even when driving over uneven surfaces with the roof down, a testament to its high body rigidity. The paint finish is deep and consistent, and the panel gaps are uniform throughout.

The Cyberster is the first car in a long time to make scissor doors feel like a functional part of the design rather than a gimmick. It’s a visual triumph that effectively bridges the gap between MG’s classic heritage and its electric future.

Features4/5

The technology inside the Cyberster is centred around a massive triple-screen setup.

  • The Screens: A 10.25-inch central instrument cluster is flanked by two 7-inch touchscreens. This provides a wrap-around digital experience for navigation, car settings, and media. There is even a fourth screen on the centre console for climate control.
  • Audio: It features a premium 8-speaker Bose sound system that is specifically tuned to sound great even with the roof down.
  • Smart Tech: While it has the usual smartphone connectivity, it notably lacks wireless integration in some versions, which is an odd omission in 2026. However, it does feature a high-end 360-degree camera system that is vital given the low seating position.

The four-screen layout is visually stunning but can be a bit ‘info-heavy’ at first. A significant quirk is that the steering wheel rim can block parts of the side screens, meaning you have to tilt your head to see certain menus.

Performance & Range4.5/5

This is where the Cyberster earns its “supercar” label. The top-spec GT variant features a dual-motor, All-Wheel Drive (AWD) setup.

  • Performance: It produces a staggering 510 PS and 725 Nm of torque. This allows the car to rocket from 0–100 km/h in just 3.2 seconds. The acceleration is neck-snapping and immediate, providing that instant EV “shove” that can catch you off guard if you aren’t ready.
  • Battery: It uses a slim 77 kWh Nickel-Manganese-Cobalt (NMC) battery pack.

MG claims an MIDC range of 580km for the Cyberster. In the real world, if you’re driving it as a ‘normal’ car, you can get a range of up to 450 km. But, if you’re going to drive it in the ‘Super Sport’ mode and enjoy the 3.2-second sprints, you’re going to get a significant drop in the range.

The 0-100 time isn’t just a number; it feels violently fast. It’s faster than almost any petrol car you’ll encounter on the road. However, it’s a very ‘digital’ speed, blisteringly quick but almost too quiet and composed for its own good. The range is not an issue, especially when you consider the sheer performance that the Cyberster has to offer.

Ride & Handling4/5

Weight is the enemy of any sports car, and at nearly 2 tons, the Cyberster is heavy. However, MG has worked magic with the suspension.

  • Ride Quality: It is surprisingly comfortable. Unlike many performance cars that are bone-jarring, the Cyberster’s suspension is tuned with a “Grand Tourer” philosophy. It soaks up small road imperfections with ease.
  • Handling: The low centre of gravity (thanks to the floor-mounted battery) keeps it very flat in corners. The AWD system provides immense grip, allowing you to power out of turns with total confidence.
  • Steering: It is accurate and weighted well, though it doesn’t offer the same “chatter” or feedback as a Porsche 718 Boxster.

It’s a high-speed cruiser that is incredibly fun on a winding mountain road. It prioritises stability and grip over raw, tail-happy antics.

Safety4.5/5

The Cyberster has been engineered to meet the highest global safety standards.

  • Structural Integrity: Because it is a convertible, the A-pillars have been heavily reinforced to protect occupants in the event of a rollover.
  • Airbags: It comes with 4 specialised airbags designed to deploy effectively in the open-top cabin.
  • ADAS Level 2: MG’s “Pilot” suite is included, offering Adaptive Cruise Control, Lane Keep Assist, and Automatic Emergency Braking. The sensors are surprisingly good at detecting smaller vehicles and pedestrians in Indian traffic.

The safety tech here is proactive. The camera-based ADAS helps mitigate the poor rear visibility you often get with convertibles. It feels like a very secure “bubble,” which isn’t always something you can say about a roadster.

Space & Comfort3.5/5
  • Cabin Space: It is strictly a 2-seater. Legroom is generous even for tall drivers, but the cockpit feels snug. The seats offer power adjustment and memory functions, making it easy to find a good driving position.
  • Storage: At 250 litres, the boot is actually quite usable. It stays the same size whether the roof is up or down, which is a huge practical advantage over many other convertibles. It will easily fit two cabin bags. The internal storage is a weak point. There is very little space for your phone, wallet, or water bottles. There is no frunk (front trunk) either.

This is a ‘weekend’ car, not a ‘grocery run’ car. The boot is surprisingly deep, making it perfect for a couple’s getaway, but you’ll find yourself struggling to find a place to put your sunglasses inside the cabin.

Charging & Warranty5/5

MG knows that EV “anxiety” is real, so they’ve backed the Cyberster with an impressive package.

  • Charging: It supports 144 kW DC fast charging. You can top up from 10% to 80% in about 40 minutes. A standard home AC charger will take roughly 11-12 hours for a full charge.
  • Warranty: In India, MG offers a Lifetime Battery Warranty for the first owner, which is a massive industry-leading move. The vehicle itself comes with a 3-year/unlimited km warranty.

The lifetime battery warranty is the ultimate peace of mind. It removes the biggest fear people have about long-term EV ownership. The 144 kW charging also means that on major highways with fast chargers, your ‘coffee break’ is all the time you’ll need.

Service & network4/5

MG has a solid presence in India with over 300 touchpoints. For the Cyberster, they utilise their “Premium” service track, which includes dedicated service advisors and priority bays.

  • Connected Tech: The i-Smart system allows for over-the-air (OTA) updates, meaning the car’s software can be improved while it sits in your garage.
  • Roadside Assistance: They offer a comprehensive 5-year RSA package, which is essential for a car that might be taken on long, scenic road trips.

MG’s service reputation in India is generally higher than that of many other global brands. Their focus on digital health check-ups and transparent pricing through their app makes owning an exotic car like this feel much less intimidating.
