Variants and Feature Levels
The Seal comes in three variants: Dynamic, Premium and Performance. Unusually, even the base Dynamic gets nearly all key features, including ADAS, 9 airbags and ventilated seats. The Premium then adds 19-inch wheels, a head-up display and memory functions. Finally, the Performance adds frequency-selective dampers for a better balance of ride and handling.
BYD Seal Exterior Features
The Seal has a sleek, low-slung design with flush pop-out door handles and a panoramic glass roof. It gets auto LED headlamps with high beam assist, along with full-width LED tail lamps. In addition, an electric tailgate, rain-sensing wipers and heated, electrically folding ORVMs come standard. The Premium and Performance also get auto-tilting ORVMs with memory.
Interior and Comfort Features
Inside, the Seal offers leatherette seats with power adjustment, heating and ventilation for both front occupants. Moreover, dual-zone climate control, multi-colour ambient lighting and a PM2.5 filter keep the cabin comfortable. The Premium and Performance add driver seat memory with a welcome function and 4-way lumbar support. Rear passengers also get USB Type-C ports and a centre armrest.
BYD Seal Infotainment Features
The highlight is a 15.6-inch touchscreen that rotates between landscape and portrait modes. It supports wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, along with “Hi BYD” voice control and over-the-air updates. A 10.25-inch digital driver display shows key information, while a 12-speaker Dynaudio system delivers rich sound. In addition, two wireless phone chargers keep front passengers’ devices topped up.
Convenience Features
The Seal gets keyless entry and start, along with an NFC card key that works like a phone tap. Moreover, V2L lets you power external devices from the battery. A 53-litre front trunk adds handy storage, and a heat pump helps improve efficiency. Other features include an electronic parking brake with auto hold and an auto-dimming IRVM.
BYD Seal Safety and ADAS Features
Every Seal gets 9 airbags, ESC, traction control, TPMS and ISOFIX mounts. In addition, a 360-degree camera and front and rear parking sensors help in tight spots. The Level 2 ADAS suite includes adaptive cruise control, autonomous emergency braking, lane keep assist, blind spot detection and front and rear cross traffic braking. It also offers traffic sign recognition, door open warning and driver attention warning.
Before You Buy the Seal
Keep a few points in mind. First, most controls, including AC and mirror adjustment, sit inside the touchscreen menus, which takes time to learn.
