2026 Tata Punch EV

Tata Motors has officially unveiled the 2026 Tata Punch EV in India, with major changes that bolster its position in the affordable electric SUV sector. The most notable addition is a lifetime battery warranty with unlimited km, aimed at increasing long-term ownership confidence.

The revised model also allows fast charging from 20% to 80% in 26 minutes, with a quick 15-minute charge providing up to 135 km of driving range, making it more practical for everyday city runs and short highway journeys.

The 2026 Punch EV now has a larger 40kWh battery pack, which provides a stated 468 km ARAI-certified range and a real-world range of roughly 355 km. Tata Motors has greatly enhanced the appeal of its popular electric micro-SUV with increased efficiency, stronger charging performance, and extended range figures, making it an even more compelling choice for first-time EV consumers and urban families alike.

Tata Punch EV 2026

Facelift Brings Subtle Design Updates

Unveiled at Mumbai’s Jio World Convention Centre, the Punch EV facelift introduces light exterior revisions to keep it aligned with the recently refreshed ICE-powered Punch. Up front, Tata has removed the earlier black strip connecting the headlamps, replacing it with a cleaner, sealed-off fascia. Slim LED daytime running lights continue to define the lighting signature, while the main headlamp units remain positioned lower on the bumper.

From the side, the Punch EV keeps its familiar shape, but Tata has added fresh paint options, including a bright yellow and a copper-brown shade, to liven things up. It also gets 195 mm of ground clearance and a 450 mm water-wading rating, making it well-suited for everyday city roads and the occasional rough patch. Tata has officially introduced three new exterior shades, Fearless Yellow, Bengal Rouge, and Caramel, taking the total colour options to seven.

Interior Tech and Safety Get a Boost

Inside, the Punch EV gains several feature upgrades. Six airbags are now standard across the range, and Tata has added i-High Beam Assist, which alerts drivers if high beams remain on when another vehicle is detected ahead. The system operates between 10 kmph and 40 kmph.

The EV also comes with Tata’s i-FATC (intelligent fully automatic temperature control) for improved cabin cooling, along with a segment-first eTXV system that optimises both battery and cabin temperature. Tata claims this setup improves overall efficiency by around one per cent while enhancing passenger comfort.

The facelift also brings several comfort and connectivity upgrades, including a 10-inch touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, ventilated front seats, a cooled glovebox, voice assistant, 360-degree camera, rear wiper and defogger, along with ESP now offered as standard. Tata has also introduced a new Udaipur-themed cabin with leatherette upholstery, a light dual-tone dashboard, and toggle-style switches, giving the interior a brighter, more premium feel.

Performance and Platform

Built on Tata’s Acti.ev platform, which integrates the powertrain, chassis, electrical architecture, and cloud systems, the new Punch EV is positioned as a more capable and efficient package than before.

Performance has improved, too. The updated Punch EV can go from 0 to 100 kmph in under nine seconds, giving it a noticeably quicker feel on open roads. It weighs 1,360 kg, with a 55:45 front-to-rear balance that helps keep things stable and predictable behind the wheel. Tata also used the launch to talk about charging access. The company has set up 130 mega charging hubs across the country and plans to take that number up to 800 by FY26, making it easier for owners to find a fast charger when they need one.

Tata says the updated Punch EV is designed to address three of the biggest concerns holding buyers back in the under-₹12 lakh segment: range anxiety, charging time, and long-term battery reliability. The company also pointed out that EV penetration in this price bracket is currently just 1.6 per cent, which explains why accessible, confidence-inspiring models like the Punch EV matter so much right now.

Pricing Details

Tata Motors has also announced introductory ex-showroom prices for the Tata Punch EV across multiple variants and battery options. The 30 kWh version starts at ₹9.69 lakh for the Smart trim, going up to ₹10.29 lakh for Smart+. For buyers opting for the larger 40 kWh battery, prices begin at ₹10.89 lakh (Smart+), followed by ₹11.59 lakh for Adventure, ₹12.29 lakh for Empowered, and topping out at ₹12.59 lakh for the Empowered +S variant. These are introductory ex-showroom prices and are expected to apply for a limited period.

A Strategic Move in a Growing Segment

With the bigger battery and quicker charging, the 2026 Punch EV simply feels more usable than before. Add the extra safety features and the lifetime warranty, and it becomes easier to recommend to someone buying their first EV. Tata hasn’t tried to change the character of the car. It has just worked on the areas that matter most to everyday owners.

The launch took place at Mumbai’s Jio World Convention Centre, where Tata also highlighted its segment-first eTXV system, which helps optimise cabin and battery cooling, improving overall efficiency by around one per cent.
