Yamaha has unveiled two new electric scooters, the Yamaha NMAX E and the Yamaha XENTER E, at EICMA 2026 in Milan. Both are designed for urban commuting and offer performance comparable to conventional 125-150 cc scooters. While they share their powertrain, the two take noticeably different approaches to design and practicality. The latest additions further expand Yamaha’s electric scooter portfolio, which already includes the Aerox E and EC-06 in India.
Yamaha NMAX E: The Popular Maxi-Scooter Goes Electric

The NMAX E takes plenty of inspiration from its petrol-powered sibling. It retains the sporty maxi-scooter styling, complete with a sharp front apron, twin LED headlights and Yamaha’s familiar boomerang-shaped side panels.
It uses a newly developed 3.5 kWh lithium-ion battery paired with an eAxle motor producing 7.5 kW (10 hp) and 33.3 Nm. Yamaha claims a range of 104 km on the WMTC cycle. Unlike the Aerox E, the NMAX E features a fixed battery pack, positioned low in the chassis to improve weight distribution and handling
The scooter has 13-inch wheels and gets a telescopic front fork, twin rear shock absorbers and disc brakes at both ends. There are three riding modes, traction control, regenerative braking and ABS. Other features include a 5-inch TFT display, smartphone connectivity, turn-by-turn navigation, keyless ignition and a reverse function.
Yamaha XENTER E: Built For Everyday Practicality
The Yamaha XENTER E shares the NMAX E’s motor and 3.5 kWh battery, although its claimed WMTC range is slightly higher at 108 km. The biggest difference is its design. While the NMAX E has maxi-scooter styling, the XENTER E gets a more conventional step-through layout with a flat floorboard and an upright riding position. It gets 16-inch wheels at both ends, which should help it handle uneven roads and broken tarmac more comfortably. The scooter uses a lightweight underbone-style frame, with 100mm of front suspension travel and 97mm at the rear.
In terms of features, it gets a 5-inch TFT display with navigation, smartphone connectivity, three riding modes, traction control, keyless ignition and reverse assistance. There’s also underseat storage capable of accommodating a full-face helmet, depending on its size.
Battery And Charging Details
Both scooters feature an 800 W onboard charger, which takes approximately 5.5 hours for a full charge. The battery packs are fixed, meaning owners will need to charge the scooters directly rather than removing their batteries. Yamaha has also introduced support for public AC Type 2 charging infrastructure in Europe. Interestingly, this differs from the approach taken with the Yamaha Aerox E, which uses removable battery packs.
Yamaha NMAX E And XENTER E: India Launch And Availability

Yamaha plans to introduce both electric scooters in European markets in spring 2027. Prices haven’t been announced. As for India, Yamaha hasn’t confirmed whether either scooter will make it here. The company already sells the EC-06 electric scooter and Aerox E, so expanding the lineup wouldn’t be entirely surprising.
SearchEV Says
The NMAX E and XENTER E are interesting additions to Yamaha’s electric scooter lineup, particularly because they offer two different riding experiences using largely identical hardware.
However, their claimed range of just over 100 km and relatively long charging times aren’t particularly impressive by today’s standards. While Yamaha’s established brand reputation and familiar designs could work in their favour, pricing will be crucial, especially if the brand eventually considers bringing them to India, which is quite a budget-conscious market.
