TVS iQube Reclaims The Top Spot From Bajaj Chetak
The TVS iQube emerged as September’s best-selling electric scooter with 45,320 units, representing a 47% increase over the 30,820 units recorded in September 2025. Bajaj Chetak followed with 42,394 units, growing 38.7% YoY.
This puts the iQube 2,926 units ahead of the Chetak, reversing August’s ranking when Bajaj occupied the top spot. However, the competition between these two remains particularly close. Both manufacturers have expanded their portfolios across multiple price points, making them attractive to a wider range of buyers.
Our earlier TVS iQube vs Bajaj Chetak comparison explains how the two differ in pricing, range, and everyday usability.
Hero Vida Surges While Ather Rizta Slows Down
Hero Vida recorded 28,862 units, securing third position and posting an impressive 88.3% year-on-year growth. The strong performance highlights Vida’s growing presence in the family electric scooter segment.
Ather Rizta, meanwhile, retained fourth position with 19,813 units, compared with 18,919 units in September 2025. That’s a relatively modest 4.7% YoY increase. Interestingly, Vida sold 9,049 more scooters than the Rizta during September. However, Ather’s performance shouldn’t be judged solely by the Rizta anymore.
TVS Orbiter And Ather Konarc Make Their Presence Felt
The TVS Orbiter recorded 17,027 units, taking fifth position. Combined with the iQube, TVS’s two scooters contributed 62,347 units to the top-10 list, giving the brand a considerable advantage in model-wise sales.
Ather also had an interesting month. The Rizta recorded 19,813 units; the 450 range contributed 6,168 units, while the newly launched Ather Konarc added another 4,140 units.
That brings Ather’s combined top-10 model-family tally to 30,121 units, slightly ahead of Vida’s 28,862 units.
The Konarc’s entry is particularly noteworthy because it was launched only at the end of August. With its family-oriented design and competitive pricing, it gives Ather another product aimed at mainstream buyers. River Indie Records 209% Growth; Ampere Gains Ground
The River Indie continued its strong performance, registering 6,057 units, compared with 1,960 units last September. That’s a substantial 209% year-on-year increase, making River one of the fastest-growing manufacturers represented in the ranking.
Ampere also had two scooters in the top 10. The Magnus range recorded 10,532 units, growing 70.4% YoY, while the Reo registered 2,047 units, up 275.6% from a much smaller base. Ampere recently updated the Magnus G Max with additional connected features, which we covered in our Magnus G Max update story.
SearchEV Takeaway
September’s numbers highlight an increasingly competitive electric scooter market. TVS has reclaimed the top spot through the iQube, while the Orbiter provides additional volume. Bajaj Chetak continues to remain a formidable competitor, with fewer than 3,000 units separating the two leading scooter families.
Further down, Vida’s 88% growth is noteworthy, while Ather’s expanding portfolio means it no longer needs to depend entirely on the Rizta. The bigger development is the entry of newer models such as the Orbiter and Konarc into the sales leaderboard. With manufacturers offering more choices across different price brackets, the competition is no longer limited to iQube, Chetak, and Rizta.
