India’s electric scooter market has entered October with an interesting battle brewing behind the leading manufacturers. TVS continues to hold the top spot, while Bajaj Auto (Chetak) remains comfortably second. However, the biggest development is the shrinking gap between Ather and Hero Vida. According to our mid-October Vahan portal data, the top 10 EV scooter manufacturers have collectively recorded 79,836 registrations so far.

TVS Continues To Lead, Bajaj Follows
TVS has maintained its lead with 24,548 registrations, putting it 8,659 units ahead of Bajaj Auto. This is due to the overall model count of TVS, which is broader than Bajaj’s Chetak range and includes the TVS iQube, TVS Orbiter and TVS X Electric.
Bajaj Auto, meanwhile, has recorded 15,889 registrations, primarily with its Bajaj Chetak electric scooter range, which includes the Bajaj Chetak C2501, C3001, C3501, C3502, and C3503. Interestingly, the Bajaj Chetak had emerged as the best-selling individual electric scooter model in August, even as TVS held the manufacturer-wise lead.
Vida Is Just 470 Units Behind Ather
This could become October’s biggest electric scooter sales headline. Ather currently occupies third position with 12,171 registrations, while Hero Vida has reached 11,701 units. That leaves a difference of just 470 units.
For perspective, Ather had finished September with 29,553 registrations in the latest dataset, compared with Vida’s 23,889. The gap was 5,664 units for that completed month. October’s much smaller gap suggests a significantly closer battle, although it remains too early to predict the final ranking. We previously analysed the growing pressure on Ather, particularly as established manufacturers expanded their electric scooter lineups.
The latest numbers make that analysis even more relevant. The competition is also becoming increasingly focused on accessible family scooters. Our Ather Konarc vs Vida VX2 Plus comparison explores how their products differ.
Ola Holds Fifth As River And Greaves Follow
Ola Electric remains fifth with 5,166 registrations, substantially behind Vida’s 11,701 units. Greaves Electric follows it with 3,596 registrations, while River Mobility has recorded 2,691 units so far, which is quite impressive for an underdog scooter manufacturer.
River continues to build its presence around their only product – the River Indie electric scooter, while Greaves has the Ampere lineup, which was recently updated with a new variant of the Ampere Nexus EX+.
BGauss currently sits in eighth place with 1,812 units, and we might see a substantial bump in its sales in upcoming months. This would be due to the launch of its new BGauss C12 MaxR electric scooter, which is quite a value-for-money product.
E-Sprinto And Motovolt Complete The Top 10
E-Sprinto Green has recorded 1,703 registrations, placing it ninth. This follows the manufacturer’s growing presence in India’s electric two-wheeler market. The company also recently launched the G1 family electric scooter at Rs 89,999.
However, G1’s customer deliveries are scheduled to begin in January 2027. So, we might see a pretty good sales jump then.
Motovolt Mobility completes the top 10 with 559 registrations. Interestingly, that already exceeds its entire September tally of 303 units. So, its good surge it its sales numbers.
What We Think
TVS and Bajaj still remain at the top of the leaderboard, but the battle between Ather and Vida deserves closer attention. Just 470 registrations separate the two manufacturers, while the gap between TVS and Bajaj is considerably larger. Whether Vida can overtake Ather before October ends could become one of the month’s largest headlines.
