Mahindra is listening closely to family car buyers. The automaker recently rolled out an interior update for its flagship three-row electric SUV. Customers have been asking for a more premium seating arrangement for long highway trips. In response, the brand has introduced a six-seat layout for the Mahindra XEV 9S. This brings highly comfortable captain seats to the second row, replacing the bench unit in select variants. This addition gives the electric version a major selling point for chauffeur-driven owners or families wanting extra personal space.
Mahindra XEV 9S Latest Price
Mahindra has kept the pricing very straightforward. Looking closely at the newly released price list, the six-seat option carries a flat premium of exactly Rs 20,000 across all eligible trims. Buyers should note that the base Pack One Above models, available with 59 kWh and 79 kWh batteries, miss out on this update. They remain strictly seven-seaters. Here is a clear breakdown of the new pricing structure.
| Variant | Battery Capacity | 7 Seater Price | 6 Seater Price |
| Pack One Above | 59 kWh | Rs 20.65 Lakh | Not Available |
| Pack One Above | 79 kWh | Rs 22.65 Lakh | Not Available |
| Pack Two Above | 70 kWh | Rs 25.05 Lakh | Rs 25.25 Lakh |
| Pack Two Above | 79 kWh | Rs 25.95 Lakh | Rs 26.15 Lakh |
| Pack Three | 79 kWh | Rs 27.85 Lakh | Rs 28.05 Lakh |
| Pack Three Above | 79 kWh | Rs 29.95 Lakh | Rs 30.15 Lakh |
*The listed ex-showroom prices do not include the 11.2 kW AC wall charger. Purchasing that specific fast charger will add an additional Rs 75,000 to the final bill.
What Does The Mahindra XEV 9S Offer?
The XEV 9S is currently the only three-row electric vehicle in the Mahindra portfolio. It is built on the dedicated INGLO skateboard architecture designed specifically for battery-powered cars. This platform creates a completely flat floor, which naturally complements the new captain seats by giving second-row passengers plenty of foot room. Buyers have the flexibility to choose from three battery packs: a 59 kWh, a 70 kWh, and a massive 79 kWh pack. The largest battery delivers a certified driving range of up to 679 km.
Along with the substantial range, the SUV is packed with modern cabin electronics. The dashboard features a massive triple-screen layout that provides dedicated displays for the driver, central infotainment, and the front passenger. Higher trims also offer Level 2 ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance System), a large panoramic sunroof, and a premium audio system for better convenience and safety.
What We Think
We think adding a six-seat option makes the Mahindra XEV 9S a much stronger competitor in the premium electric SUV segment. The flat Rs 20,000 premium is very reasonable for the added comfort of individual captain seats. Buyers looking for maximum interior comfort now have a very compelling reason to choose the updated Mahindra electric SUV, especially until the upcoming Safari EV comes. The Tata Safari EV was spotted testing on Indian roads, and is slated for launch somewhere around late 2027.
