The premium electric SUV space just became a lot more interesting for buyers who want luxury without stretching their budgets. BYD India has expanded its lineup by launching a new base variant for its flagship Sealion 7. Previously, purchasing this electric family hauler meant starting directly with the Premium model. But now, by introducing the new Dynamic variant, BYD has lowered the entry barrier by a massive Rs 8 lakh. The BYD Sealion 7 continues to undercut rivals like the Hyundai Ioniq 5 and the Kia EV6, albeit by a higher margin now.
BYD Sealion 7 Price Breakdown and Variants
The introduction of the Dynamic trim brings the total variant count of the Sealion 7 to three. The new model sits comfortably below the Premium and Performance versions, offering an attractive starting point for new electric vehicle adopters. Below is the updated ex-showroom pricing for the entire Sealion 7 lineup.
| Variant | Battery Capacity | Ex Showroom Price |
| Dynamic | 71.8 kWh | Rs 41.90 Lakh |
| Premium | 82.56 kWh | Rs 49.90 Lakh |
| Performance (AWD) | 82.56 kWh | Rs 55.90 Lakh |
BYD Sealion 7 Battery, Range, and Performance
To achieve this aggressive price tag, BYD naturally had to shrink the battery size. While the higher trims utilise an 82.56 kWh unit, the new Dynamic variant relies on a smaller 71.8 kWh Blade Battery. This battery sends power to a rear-mounted electric motor that generates 231 horsepower and delivers a driving range of 520 km on the NEDC testing cycle. The SUV can sprint from zero to 100 kmph in just 7.3 seconds.
For reference, the Premium and Performance variants feature 233 kW and 395 kW (dual-motor setup), respectively. The NEDC range for the Premium trim is the highest, rated at 567 km.
What Features Are Included and Missing?
The Dynamic trim continues to offer the brand signature 15.6-inch rotating touchscreen infotainment system, a panoramic glass roof, and a 10.25-inch digital driver display. It also packs comfort features like ventilated powered front seats with memory functions, a 10-speaker audio setup (down from 12 in upper trims), and a wireless phone charger. Safety features include 11 airbags, a 360-degree surround camera, and a complete Level 2 Advanced Driver Assistance System suite.
It, however, misses out on a leather-wrapped steering wheel, head-up display, gesture-controlled electric tailgate, PM2.5 air filter, and powered lumbar adjustment compared to the higher variant.
Buyers can pick from four exterior paint options, including Atlantis Grey, Cosmos Black, Aurora White, and Shark Grey.
What We Think
The BYD Sealion 7 Dynamic is a brilliantly timed release. By sacrificing a small amount of battery capacity and outright speed, the brand created a highly compelling package that retains all the critical luxury and safety tech of the expensive trims. To sweeten the deal further, BYD is offering a complimentary 7 kW home charger, a 10-year roadside assistance package, and an extended 10-year battery warranty for customers purchasing during the current festive campaign. If you want a spacious, feature-rich electric SUV primarily for urban commutes and occasional road trips, this new variant makes a very strong case for itself.
