Tesla Roadster Rocket Features
The Rocket is where the Roadster goes from supercar to something out of a sci-fi movie. Instead of only rear thrusters like the Thrust, it gets perimeter-mounted cold-gas thrusters placed around the body. These use compressed air from high-pressure tanks to push the car forward, lift it upward and even turn it sideways. That’s what allows the Rocket to leave the ground for short hops. It can’t fly like a plane, but no other car can do anything like it.
You still get the multi-mode suction system, a fan-powered setup under the car that pulls it towards the road for extra grip when it’s on the ground.
Inside, the Rocket is a single-seater, built entirely around the driver. Tesla hasn’t revealed the cabin yet, so details like screens, seat design and controls are yet to be revealed.
Tesla Roadster Rocket Safety
Safety features and crash test ratings are yet to be revealed. The Roadster hasn’t been crash-tested yet, and Tesla has noted that the car is not yet approved for public road use.
Tesla Roadster Rocket Range and Charging
Tesla claims a range of over 480 km (300 miles) for the Rocket, the same as the other versions. Real-world range will be lower, especially if you use the full performance often. Battery size, charging speed and charging time are yet to be revealed.
What the Rocket Does Not Have
The Rocket does not have a passenger seat. It’s a single-seater, while the Performance and Thrust both seat two. It’s also not open for regular booking, since it’s invite only.
What the Rocket Adds Over the Thrust
Compared with the Thrust, the Rocket adds thrusters around the whole body, not just at the rear. This brings the 0 to 96 km/h time down from under 0.9 seconds to under 0.59 seconds, adds a top speed of over 370 km/h and lets the car lift off the ground for short hops. In return, you give up the second seat.
Who Should Buy the Tesla Roadster Rocket?
The Rocket is for a very small group of buyers: collectors and enthusiasts who want the most extreme car Tesla has ever made, and who get an invite from Tesla. Since it’s invite only, has one seat and its India availability is still unclear, it’s not a practical choice for most people. If you want the Roadster in India, the Performance or Thrust are the versions you can actually book. Keep checking SearchEV for India launch and price updates.
