These are estimated on-road prices based on the expected ex-showroom price. The final on-road price will depend on Tesla’s official India price and the road tax, registration and insurance in your city. Mumbai, Pune and Bangalore are expected to cost more, because Maharashtra and Karnataka charge road tax on expensive EVs.

What Is Included in the On-Road Price?

The on-road price is what you actually pay. It includes the ex-showroom price, road tax or RTO charges, insurance, registration, TCS and small charges such as FASTag. Since the Roadster is expected to come to India as a fully imported car, customs duty will already be part of the ex-showroom price, which is one reason it will cost so much more here. Always ask for a written quote before you pay.

Tesla Roadster India Reservation Amount

Tesla has opened bookings in India with a two-step payment:

• Performance: Rs 5.01 lakh first, then Rs 45.05 lakh within 10 days, a total of Rs 50.06 lakh.
• Thrust: Rs 5.01 lakh first, then Rs 2.45 crore within 10 days, a total of Rs 2.50 crore.
• Rocket: invite only. The reservation amount isn’t shown.

The first payment of Rs 5.01 lakh is fully refundable. If you don’t make the second payment within 10 days, the booking can be cancelled. These are reservation amounts, not the final price.

Tesla Roadster Price by Version

• Performance (from around Rs 2 crore, expected): the road-ready 2-seater, with active aerodynamics and a suction system for extra grip. It’s the most affordable way to get the Roadster.
• Thrust (up to around Rs 10 crore, expected): adds rear cold-gas thrusters for 0 to 96 km/h in under 0.9 seconds. It’s a limited edition, with one order per customer.
• Rocket (yet to be announced): a single-seater with extra thrusters that let it lift off the ground for short hops. It’s invite only.

Which Tesla Roadster Version Is Best Value?

The Performance is expected to be the best value, with the lowest reservation amount and the same 480+ km range as the other versions. The Thrust is for buyers who want the quickest launches and don’t mind paying a lot more. Since the thrusters may not be allowed in markets where local laws don’t permit them, check with Tesla before booking the Thrust in India.
