Tesla Roadster Performance Features
The Performance is built to be the road-ready Roadster. Its biggest highlight is the multi-mode suction system, a fan-powered setup under the car that pulls it towards the road for extra grip, both on and off track. Along with that, active aerodynamics change as you drive to keep the car stable at high speeds.
Inside, the Performance seats two. Tesla hasn’t revealed the full cabin yet, but going by Tesla’s other cars, expect a clean, minimal layout with a big touchscreen. Details like screen size, seats, sound system and storage are yet to be revealed.
Tesla Roadster Performance Safety
Safety features and crash test ratings are yet to be revealed. The Roadster hasn’t been crash-tested yet, and Tesla has noted that the car is not yet approved for public road use. The final safety kit will be clearer closer to production.
Tesla Roadster Performance Range and Charging
Tesla claims a range of over 480 km (300 miles) for the Performance. Real-world range will be lower, especially if you use the full performance often. Battery size, charging speed and charging time are yet to be revealed. Tesla’s Supercharger network in India is still small, so plan your charging before you book.
What the Performance Does Not Have
The Performance does not get cold-gas thrusters. Those come with the Thrust and Rocket versions. Without thrusters, its 0 to 96 km/h time is under 1.6 seconds, compared with under 0.9 seconds for the Thrust. It also can’t lift off the ground, which only the Rocket can do.
What the Thrust Adds Over the Performance
The Thrust has the same two seats and 480+ km range. It adds rear-mounted cold-gas thrusters, developed with SpaceX technology, which cut the 0 to 96 km/h time to under 0.9 seconds. Its India reservation amount is Rs 2.50 crore, compared with Rs 50.06 lakh for the Performance, and its expected price goes up to around Rs 10 crore.
Who Should Buy the Tesla Roadster Performance?
This version suits buyers who want the Roadster experience at the lowest price. You still get acceleration quicker than most supercars, the same 480+ km range and the suction system for serious grip. It also avoids any legal questions around thrusters, since it doesn’t have them. If you want the absolute quickest launches, the Thrust is the one to look at. Prices aren’t final yet, so keep checking SearchEV for the official India price and launch updates.
