The electric bike segment is rapidly evolving in India, and these two motorcycles represent the two ends of the industry – one represents affordability, while the other focuses on outright capability. Despite being EVs, they attract a very different bunch, and here’s a proper comparison among them:
Design
The Oben Rorr Evo is a sporty electric commuter that is lightweight, compact, and designed for city use. It has a futuristic-looking design that is youth-focused and looks quite beautiful. It is available in four colours: Neutron Blue, Pulse Red, Magnetic Black, and Photon White.
The Ultraviolette X-47 Crossover, on the other hand, has a rugged, off-road-focused design. Everything about the X-47 Crossover feels like it was purpose-built with an upright riding position and a spacious seat. The Ultraviolette X-47 Crossover is available in three colour schemes: Turbo Red, Cosmic Black, and Stellar White.
Performance And Range
The Oben Rorr Evo is powered by a 3.4kWh battery pack, with a claimed range of 180km. But the true range is somewhere around 150km. Its motor produces 9kW of peak power, and 250Nm of peak torque. The top speed is 110kmph, and the bike can reach 40kmph from a standstill in just 3 seconds.
The Ultraviolette X-47 Crossover has a significantly bigger 7.1kWh battery pack, with a claimed range of 211km. It can accelerate to 60kmph in just 2.8 seconds, which is quite fast. The peak power output is 27kW, and the peak torque is 550Nm, more than twice that of the Oben Rorr Evo.
| Bike | Battery | Claimed Range | Power and Torque | Top Speed | Acceleration |
| Oben Rorr Evo | 3.4kWh | 180km | 9kW and 250Nm | 110kmph | 0-40kmph in 3 seconds |
| Ultraviolette X-47 Crossover | 7.1kWh | 211km | 27kW and 550Nm | 145kmph | 0-60kmph in 2.8 seconds |
Features
The bike comes with a 5-inch TFT instrument console that has turn-by-turn navigation via the Oben app. The console has four colour themes and shows only the most essential information. The bike has four riding modes: Havoc, City, Eco and the new SmartIQ and a reverse mode too. It also has UBA (Unified Braking Assist), and MHX (Maximum Heat Exchange) tech.
The Ultraviolette, on the other hand, is quite packed to the brim with modern features like multi-level traction control, multiple regen levels, and even three ride modes: Glide, Combat, and Ballistic. The instrument cluster is a digital TFT unit with all the bells and whistles like smartphone connectivity, among other connected features. It also gets a dual-channel ABS, stability control, hill-hold control, and even a park assist feature.
Price Analysis And Our Opinion
This is where the biggest gap exists between these two motorcycles. The Oben Rorr Evo is priced at Rs 1,24,999 (the introductory price is Rs 99,999 for the first 10,000 buyers) and is one of the most value-for-money sporty computers in the segment. But the Ultraviolette X-47 Crossover starts at Rs 2,49,999 which is quite more expensive than the Oben. It is built as a lifestyle vehicle with which the goal is to have fun and an engaging experience, rather than commuting.
While both of these bikes are not rivals, they represent the wide EV motorcycle spectrum of the Indian market. If you want a motorcycle for daily commutes that is easy to maintain and has low running costs, the Oben Rorr Evo is a great pick. But, if you are looking for a bike with cutting-edge technology and exciting performance, the Ultraviolette will serve you well.
