      • Conclusion

India saw an impressive number of electric car launches in 2025, like the Hyundai Creta Electric, Tata Harrier EV, Mahindra XUV 9S, and Kia Carens Clavis EV. Global companies such as VinFast, BYD, and Tesla also launched their electric cars in India. However, the biggest turning point came when mass-market companies such as Maruti Suzuki entered the EV market, showing that electric vehicles are now widely used in India.

The demand for electric vehicles remained high throughout the years, thanks to innovation in the EV space and new launches. Features such as Boss Mode, Summon Mode, a 540-degree camera, Infinity Cruise, and autonomous driving were introduced, marking groundbreaking progress in the EV market. Along with these advances, government subsidies and the rapid expansion of charging infrastructure further supported EV adoption. As a result, electric vehicle sales in India crossed 1.75 lakh units by December, and the EV sales grew by 16.9% in FY25 to 1.97 million units, reflecting growing trust and acceptance among buyers.

In this blog, we’ll take you through the top 7 upcoming electric cars in India for 2026, with details on their specs, features, prices, and launch timings.

      1. Skoda Elroq RS (Expected Price: ₹25-40 lakh)

Skoda has finally brought its RS badge into the electric era, and the Elroq RS is the result — a performance electric SUV that doesn’t ask you to choose between fun and practicality. Under the hood (well, under the floor) sits a dual-motor AWD setup making 335 bhp and 679 Nm, enough to get it to 100 km/h in 5.4 seconds.

A large 84 kWh battery delivers up to 546 km of range, and at 185 kW fast charging, you’re back to 80% in about 26 minutes — a quick coffee stop at the highway dhaba and you’re sorted. The looks are sharp too. Gloss black detailing, an aggressive Tech-Deck Face up front, and the optional Mamba Green paint make sure nobody mistakes this for a regular Elroq.

Inside, it’s all sporty Suedia seats with lime green stitching, carbon-look trim, and a flat-bottom RS wheel — details that remind you this isn’t just a grocery-getter with a badge. Tech includes a 13-inch touchscreen, a 5.3-inch display on the steering column, and an optional head-up display. Skoda has kept the practical bits too — 470 litres of boot space and plenty of clever storage touches.

No official India price or launch date confirmed yet, but if it does make it here, expect it to shake up the premium EV SUV segment against the Ioniq 5 and BYD Sealion 7.

      2. Tata Sierra EV (Expected Price: ₹15 lakh)

      Tata Sierra EV
Tata’s Sierra EV, inspired by the classic 1991 Sierra, aims to build a sleek and practical electric SUV. The Sierra EV will sit between the Curvv EV and the Harrier EV and is targeted to customers looking for a luxury yet affordable electric SUV.

The EV will most likely include battery packs ranging from 55 to 65 kWh, similar to the Curvv and Harrier EVs. It is also expected to get both FWD and AWD options. Expected features include a panoramic sunroof, three-screen digital layout, ventilated front seats, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a JBL audio system, and Level 2 ADAS.

The launch is expected between January and March 2026, with prices starting around ₹15 lakh.

      3. Hyundai Inster EV (Expected Price: Less than ₹20 lakh)

      Hyundai Inster EV
Hyundai’s compact electric SUV, codenamed HE1i, would be launched in India as the Inster EV. This model will employ locally sourced Exide batteries, giving it a cost-effective option for Indian customers.

The Inster EV will have two battery options: a 42 kWh battery with a 72 kW motor for a 300 km range, and a 49 kWh battery with an 84 kW motor for 355 km of range. Key features like a dual 10.25-inch display, Level 2 ADAS, automatic climate control, and a 360-degree camera with blind-spot monitoring will be included in the EV.

Hyundai will be launching the Inster EV in late 2026, targeting daily commuters and competing directly with the Tata Punch EV. The expected price is less than ₹20 lakh.

      4. Kia Syros EV (Expected Price: ₹14-20 lakh)

      Kia Syros EV
Kia’s Syros EV is another compact electric SUV set to arrive in India in 2026. It is based on the Hyundai Inster EV platform; however, it is expected to retain Kia’s unique style and features.

The Syros EV will most likely have 42 and 49 kWh battery options, with a maximum range of approximately 355 km. It will have a 30-inch panoramic dual display, ventilated seats, Level 2 ADAS, a panoramic sunroof, and a 360-degree camera. The launch is anticipated in March 2026, with prices ranging from ₹14-20 lakh.

      5. Toyota Urban Cruiser EV (Expected Price: ₹20-30 lakh)

      Toyota Urban Cruiser EV
Toyota’s Urban Cruiser EV will be a rebadged Maruti E-Vitara with minimal design tweaks. It is planned to use the same battery options, 49 kWh and 61 kWh, with a range of up to 500 km.

The Urban Cruiser EV will come with a 10.25-inch touchscreen, a 10.1-inch digital instrument cluster, a two-spoke steering wheel, a panoramic sunroof, and Level 2 ADAS. Toyota aims to launch this EV in mid-2026, with pricing ranging from ₹20-30 lakh.

      6. VinFast Limo Green (Expected Price: ₹20 lakh)

      VinFast Limo Green
VinFast is launching the Limo Green, a 7-seater electric MPV, in India. Already popular in Vietnam, this vehicle will compete with the BYD eMAX, Kia Carens EV, and XEV 9S.

It will have a 60.13 kWh battery with a range of 450 km and a 150 kW motor with 280 Nm torque. The Limo Green will offer 11 kW AC charging and 80 kW DC fast charging, with a 70% charge in under 30 minutes. Inside, it will include a 10.1-inch touchscreen, single-zone air conditioning, ventilated seats, four airbags and ABS, but no ADAS. The launch is expected in by the end of 2026, with a price tag of roughly ₹20 lakh.

      7. VinFast VF 3 (Expected Price: ₹7-10 lakh)

      VinFast VF 3
The VinFast VF 3 is a compact, city-focused micro SUV aimed at buyers looking for an affordable electric vehicle. With its boxy form and 16-inch wheels, it will compete with models such as the MG Comet and Tata Tiago EV.

It will be powered by an 18.64 kWh battery with a stated range of 215 kilometres and a 30 kW motor with 110 Nm of torque. The VF 3 will be rear-wheel drive and accelerate from 0 to 50 km/h in 5.3 seconds. A single touchscreen with Android/Apple CarPlay is standard, as are cloth seats, ABS, a single airbag, and parking sensors. The launch is slated for mid-2026, with prices ranging from ₹7-10 lakh.

      Conclusion

With the rapid adoption of electric cars, 2026 is set to be a pivotal year for India’s EV market. Customers will have more options than ever, like:

      • If you want to buy an affordable electric car just for city driving, models like the VinFast VF3 and the Hyundai Inster EV could be a good option.
      • For someone who is looking for a well-rounded electric SUV with modern features and a long range can go for Toyota Urban Cruiser EV. Both of the EVs are expected to provide a good blend of practicality and technology.
      • If you want a luxurious as well as large electric SUV, the Tata Sierra EV and Skoda Elroq RS stand out as interesting options due to their advanced features and multiple drivetrain options.
      • The VinFast Limo Green could be a practical electric MPV worth waiting for if you are someone who would need additional space and three rows of seating.

All things considered, 2026 might be the ideal year for many Indian consumers to switch to electric vehicles due to improved technology, more robust infrastructure, and an increasing number of launches.
