JSW MG Motor India just dropped the very first teaser for its new premium SUV. The model will carry the Hector Hawk nameplate when it officially breaks cover on August 26, 2026. Essentially the first product to be based on MG’s Adapt platform, the Hector Hawk can seamlessly package battery electric systems alongside plug-in hybrid setups. Though the all-electric version is likely to arrive first. Dealerships have already opened their order books.
Platform and Powertrain Options
The foundation of the Hector Hawk is the highly flexible ADAPT platform. Current teasers indicate MG will launch the fully electric version first. This electric model is expected to feature a large battery pack, either a 56.7 kWh or a 69.2 kWh unit. It powers a front-mounted electric motor that generates roughly 201 horsepower and 310 Nm of torque. This combination promises a driving range of up to 530 kilometres on a single charge (CLTC cycle).
A plug-in hybrid version will follow shortly after. This setup combines a standard 1.5-litre petrol engine with an electric motor and a 20.5 kWh battery. The hybrid system produces a combined 194 horsepower and 230 Nm of torque. For short daily drives, you can rely entirely on battery power for about 125 kilometres. Once the battery depletes on a long journey, the petrol engine takes over to provide a total driving range exceeding 1,000 kilometres.
Exterior Design and Dimensions
MG is giving the Hector Hawk a sharp and futuristic look. The official teaser shows a bold black grille with chrome inserts, alongside a split lighting setup and an illuminated MG badge. It also features large dual-tone alloy wheels, body-coloured outside mirrors, and wraparound LED tail lights. To make room for a 2 plus 3 plus 2 seating layout, the SUV measures 4,745 mm in length and features a long 2,810 mm wheelbase.
Interior and Features
Inside the cabin, the layout stays minimalistic and heavily focused on digital screens. Recent glimpses reveal a beige interior theme and adjustable headrests for all three rows. Drivers will interact with a large freestanding touchscreen and a fully digital coloured instrument cluster. Physical buttons remain on the two-spoke steering wheel and center console to control essential functions. Other premium features include a panoramic sunroof, automatic climate control, and Advanced Driver Assistance Systems.
Conclusion
The Hector Hawk is gearing up to create a completely new space in the Indian market. Offering a true plug-in hybrid option alongside a pure electric variant gives buyers a very practical middle ground. When it hits showrooms with an expected starting price around Rs 22 Lakh to 25 Lakh, the hybrid version will take on the Mahindra XUV7X0 and Tata Safari. Meanwhile, the pure electric model will compete directly against vehicles like the Mahindra XEV 9s and the upcoming Tata Safari EV. We will have to wait for the August 26 reveal to confirm the final specifications and exact pricing.
