Ampere, the electric 2-wheeler sub-brand of Greaves Electric Mobility, has launched the new Reo VYB electric scooter in India. It is priced at Rs 69,499 (introductory), making it the second most affordable e-scooter from the brand. It is offered in four paint schemes: Warm White, Pastel Purple, Dark Grey, and Aqua Metallic.

Being a low-speed electric scooter, its top speed is capped at 25 kmph. It is equipped with a 1.44 kWh LFP (Lithium Ferro Phosphate) battery pack, which has a claimed life of around 1,00,000 km. Its claimed range is 80 km, so the real-world range could be somewhere around 70 km on a single charge. Its hub motor makes about 0.35 kW of power and 35 Nm of torque. The new Ampere electric scooter takes 5 hrs 30 mins for a full charge.

Despite being a low-speed, affordable scooter, the Reo VYB comes with a bunch of features like a colour LCD console, a keyless start system, and an all-LED lighting setup. The interesting thing about the Reo VYB is that it also has an ambient light on its side panel that looks quite cool. Apart from this, it also gets a 24 litre boot and a front disc brake, making it a lot more convenient and safe. Suspension duties are taken care of by a front telescopic fork, and twin rear shock absorbers.

What We Think
We think that Ampere wants to target first-time EV buyers with this scooter. It is feature-packed, stylish, and just fast enough for the city – everything you need for it to be a good low-speed electric scooter. And, to drive it, you don’t even need a licence, so if you want something for your teenager, your parent to have joyrides, or to run errands around the house, this should suit you well.
