VinFast, a Vietnamese electric vehicle manufacturer, has formally announced that its newest model, the VinFast VF MPV 7, will be on sale on April 15, 2026. The VF MPV 7, marketed as a high-end yet useful seven-seater, is intended to fill the gap between high-end luxury electric SUVs and entry-level electric hatchbacks.
Following the successful launch of the VF 6 and VF 7 SUVs in late 2025, the VF MPV 7 is the brand’s third major product for the Indian market. It is intended for large families seeking a sustainable substitute for conventional internal combustion engine (ICE) favorites like the Toyota Innova or the Kia Carens. The pre-bookings are already open at a token amount of ₹21,000.
Design: A Fusion of Space and Style
The VF MPV 7 moves away from the traditionally “boxy” and uninspiring look of utility vehicles. Developed using what VinFast calls the “golden ratio” proportions, the vehicle features wheels pushed right to the corners. This design choice doesn’t just improve stability; it maximises the interior wheelbase to provide a spacious cabin.
Exterior
On the outside, the VF MPV 7 sports the signature VinFast aesthetic, a sleek, V-shaped LED light bar that spans the width of the hood and the tailgate.
- Lighting: Full LED projector headlamps housed in the bumper and sharp, aero-optimised lines give it a futuristic face.
- Profile: Despite its 4740mm length, the MPV maintains a sporty character thanks to 19-inch aero-optimised alloy wheels and a roofline that tapers slightly toward the rear.
- Presence: With a ground clearance of 180mm, it is well-equipped to handle Indian road conditions, from high-speed breakers to monsoon-battered tarmac.
Interior
The interior of the cabin has a simple “all-black” design intended to be elegant and low-maintenance. The driver-centric interface dominates the tidy dashboard.Unlike some other VinFast models that omit a traditional driver’s display, the India-spec MPV 7 is expected to feature a Heads-Up Display (HUD) to keep vital information in the driver’s line of sight without cluttering the dash.
The seating is the star of the show. The long wheelbase of 2840mm ensures that there is plenty of space in the third row, not just for children but for adults too. When the rear seats are folded, the cargo volume expands to a massive 1240 litres, making it a powerhouse for weekend getaways.
Features and Smart Technology
VinFast is leaning heavily into the “Smart Mobility” tag. The VF MPV 7 comes packed with tech that rivals luxury sedans:
- Infotainment: A 10.1-inch touchscreen serves as the hub for navigation, media, and vehicle settings, supporting wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay.
- Comfort: Expect a powered driver’s seat, dual-zone automatic climate control with a PM2.5 air filter, and a high-fidelity 4-speaker sound system.
- Safety: You can expect robust safety with 6 airbags as standard, Hill Start Assist, Electronic Stability Control, and an Electronic Parking Brake. Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) like blind-spot monitoring are also rumoured to be part of the top-tier package.
Performance, Range, and Charging
The VF MPV 7 is built for effortless cruising rather than track-shredding speeds, though its electric powertrain ensures instant torque for city overtakes.
- Powertrain: It is equipped with a front-axle-mounted electric motor (FWD) that produces 204hp and 280Nm of torque. This allows the 7-seater to sprint from 0 to 100 km/h in a respectable 10 seconds.
- Battery and Range: The vehicle houses a 60.13kWh battery pack. The claimed range for the MPV is between 450 and 500 km on a single charge. In real-world Indian conditions, users can likely expect a reliable 400-420km range.
- Charging: Time is of the essence for family travel. The MPV 7 supports 80kW DC fast charging, which can juice up the battery from 10% to 70% in approximately 30 minutes. For home charging, a standard AC wall box will be provided, typically taking 8–10 hours for a full charge.
Price and Rivals
The VinFast VF MPV 7 is entering a competitive arena where value for money is king.
Estimated Price
We expect the VF MPV 7 to launch with an ex-showroom price range of ₹18.00 Lakh to ₹25.00 Lakh. There might be a BaaS option available, which can further reduce the upfront price. This puts it squarely in the middle of the most active segment of the Indian car market.
The Competition
The Vinfast VF MPV 7 will face off against both established players and new electric entrants:
| Rivals | Description | Price |
| BYD eMax 7 | A primary rival to the VF MPV 7, known for its blade battery tech. | ₹26.90 Lakh onwards |
| Kia Carens Clavis EV | An MPV with good range, space, and features to offer. | ₹18 lakh onwards |
| Mahindra XEV 9e | Although not a direct competitor, as it is an SUV, the price and seating capacity do overlap with the MPV audience. | ₹21.90 lakh onwards |
| Toyota Innova Hycross Hybrid | It is not purely electric, but it is quite a popular MPV in India, especially for big families. | ₹25.90 lakh onwards |
By offering a vehicle that prioritises cabin space, modern aesthetics, and a “no-compromise” electric range, the VF MPV 7 might just be the vehicle that finally convinces large Indian families to make the electric switch. Keep an eye out for the official price announcement next week; it could redefine what we expect from a family car.
