The Roadster comes in three versions: Performance, Thrust and Rocket. All three share the multi-mode suction system and a claimed range of over 480 km. Each step up adds more thruster tech and quicker acceleration. The Performance and Thrust seat two, while the Rocket is a single-seater. The table below shows the main differences.

Tesla Roadster Exterior Features
On the outside, the Roadster has a low, wide sports car shape with a long nose and a short, wide rear. The Performance gets active aerodynamics, which change as you drive to keep the car stable at high speeds. The Thrust adds rear-mounted cold-gas thrusters, and the Rocket gets thrusters placed all around the body. Final exterior details like wheel size, lighting design and colour options are yet to be revealed.
Tesla Roadster Interior and Comfort Features
Inside, the Performance and Thrust seat two, while the Rocket is a single-seater built around the driver. Tesla hasn’t revealed the cabin yet. Going by Tesla’s other cars, expect a clean, minimal layout with very few physical buttons. Details like seat type, materials, climate control and storage space are yet to be revealed. Since this is a car built for speed, don’t expect much luggage space or practicality.
Tesla Roadster Infotainment and Tech Features
The Roadster’s biggest tech features are its suction system and thrusters. The multi-mode suction system uses a fan under the car to create downforce, so the car stays planted on and off the track. The thrusters use compressed air from high-pressure tanks, not fuel, and were developed with SpaceX technology. Infotainment details like touchscreen size, sound system, connectivity and driver displays are yet to be revealed, but expect Tesla’s usual big-screen setup and over-the-air updates.
Tesla Roadster Performance Features
For performance, the Performance goes from 0 to 96 km/h in under 1.6 seconds. The Thrust uses its rear thrusters to cut that to under 0.9 seconds, and the Rocket does it in under 0.59 seconds, with a top speed of over 370 km/h. The thrusters also help with sharper cornering and stronger braking. On the Rocket, they can lift the car off the ground and move it upward and sideways. All versions claim a range of over 480 km.
Tesla Roadster Safety Features
Safety features and crash test ratings are yet to be revealed for all three versions. The Roadster hasn’t been crash-tested yet, and Tesla has noted that the car is not yet approved for public road use. Tesla also says the thrusters may not be offered in markets where local laws don’t allow them.
Before You Buy
If you want the Roadster experience without any legal questions, the Performance is the safest pick, since it doesn’t have thrusters. The Thrust is only worth it if the thrusters are allowed in India, so confirm this with Tesla first. Remember that the Roadster seats only two, or one in the Rocket, so it works as a second car for weekend drives, not a daily family car. Also check where you’ll charge it, since Tesla’s Supercharger network in India is still small.
