Intro
The Avinya Sub brand of premium Tata electric vehicles have been in development for a long time now. As we move closer to the first launch expected to hit during late 2026, we have got our hands on another crucial detail about the vehicle.
Design patents detailing the dashboard and steering wheel of the Tata Avinya EV have surfaced online, offering the first concrete look at the production-intent cabin. The patented interior reveals a premium and futuristic cabin design approach.
A Minimalist, Digitised Dashboard

The leaked patent images showcase a sweeping, softly curved dashboard that elegantly runs across the width of the cabin, bearing a slight resemblance to the overarching design of luxury sedans like the Jaguar XJ. Moving away from the completely screen-free philosophy of the earlier concepts, the production-intent design firmly embraces modern digitisation. A large, prominent central touchscreen infotainment system anchors the dashboard. This massive touchscreen will act as the central hub, expected to integrate climate controls and core vehicle settings. Physical buttons for these controls are not seen in the images to remove any clutter and maintain a clean aesthetic.
The central touchscreen infotainment system will be complemented by a rather sleek, slim-profile digital instrument cluster positioned behind the steering wheel. The overall layout exudes a minimalist, lounge-like environment, heavily pointing toward the extensive use of soft-touch materials and premium trims to match its luxury positioning.
A New Identity: The Avinya Steering Wheel

The Tata Avniya will see a complete departure from the current Tata steering designs. Instead of using the traditional Tata emblem, this two spoke unit features “AVINYA” lettering on the center pad. This also represents how Tata plans to position Avinya as an independent, upscale sub-brand, completely separate from its mass-market offerings.
The steering wheel incorporates flush, touch-capacitive controls on either side, which will handle media, communication, and Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS). Furthermore, it is flanked by two mirrored, flat stalks, one of which will uniquely serve as the vehicle’s gear selector.
The EMA Platform and the Road to Production
Beyond the interior aesthetics, the foundation of the Avinya is highly significant. It will be the first Tata vehicle to utilize the Electrified Modular Architecture (EMA), an advanced platform shared with British marque Jaguar Land Rover (JLR) as part of a major technology transfer within the Tata Group.
By heavily localizing the EMA platform in India, Tata Motors aims to keep manufacturing costs competitive while delivering world-class structural safety, dynamic performance, and ultra-fast charging capabilities. According to initial brand announcements, the architecture is engineered to support next-generation battery packs capable of adding up to 500 km of range in under 30 minutes using high-speed DC charging.
