Range by Ride Mode
The River Indie 4 kWh claims 163 km on the IDC cycle. However, River quotes real-world range for each ride mode, which helps buyers plan better. Expect about 110 km in Eco, 90 km in Ride and 70 km in Rush. As a result, a rider covering 30 km a day in Ride mode can go about three days between charges. Moreover, Ride mode allows up to 80 km/h, which suits most city roads.
Charging and Running Cost
The included 750 W charger takes about 5 hours to reach 80% and about 6 hours for a full charge. However, the battery is fixed, so you’ll need a socket near your parking spot. With home charging, running costs stay at roughly Rs 0.32 per km. At 1,000 km a month, that’s about Rs 320 in electricity, against roughly Rs 2,100 in petrol for a 110cc scooter.
River Indie 4 kWh Features
The Indie comes well equipped for practical use. Built-in SafeGuards protect the body, while pannier stays and accessory mounts let you add extra carrying capacity. Moreover, a 6-inch colour display stays readable in bright sunlight. Forward and reverse parking assist helps you move this large scooter in tight spaces. In addition, a USB Type-C port, a boot light and IP67 battery protection come standard.
How It Compares
The Yamaha EC-06 shares the Indie’s platform but costs more, with Yamaha’s styling and wider service network. Meanwhile, the Bajaj Chetak C3501 costs a little more and offers a metal body and Bajaj’s large dealer network. However, neither matches the Indie’s 55 litres of storage or its accessory options. Therefore, the River Indie 4 kWh suits buyers who value utility above all.
