BYD Denza India Debut On November 13
BYD India has confirmed that its luxury automotive brand, Denza, will make its India debut on November 13, 2026, marking the Chinese manufacturer’s entry into the country’s premium electric vehicle segment. This announcement follows Denza’s India entry teaser released earlier this month, which confirmed the brand’s arrival.
Interestingly, Denza isn’t an entirely new manufacturer. It was established in 2010 as a joint venture between BYD and Mercedes-Benz’s former parent company, Daimler. However, Mercedes-Benz exited the partnership in 2024, leaving BYD as the sole owner. The brand will operate above BYD’s existing passenger vehicle lineup, with the D9 luxury MPV and Z9 GT shooting brake expected to spearhead its Indian operations.
Denza D9 MPV Could Challenge MG M9 And Toyota Vellfire
The Denza D9 is expected to be one of the first models introduced in India. The seven-seat electric MPV gets powered captain’s chairs offering heating, ventilation and massage functions. Its other highlights include a 15.6-inch infotainment touchscreen, premium upholstery and three-zone climate control. It is powered by a 103 kWh battery, with the front-wheel-drive configuration producing approximately 313 PS and 360 Nm. It’s claimed WLTP (Worldwide Harmonised Light Vehicle Test Procedure) range is 520 km. In India, the D9 will compete against luxury people movers such as the MG M9 and Toyota Vellfire.
Denza Z9 GT Packs 1,156 PS and a 600 km Range
While the D9 focuses on comfort, the Denza Z9 GT is an entirely different proposition.
The low-slung electric shooting brake features a triple-motor all-wheel-drive powertrain producing 1,156 PS, allowing it to accelerate from 0 to 100 kmph in a claimed 2.7 seconds.

The Z9 GT also gets rear-wheel steering, enabling unusual manoeuvres such as sideways movement and its Compass Turn function, which allows the vehicle to rotate within a tight space. Its latest international version supports BYD’s ultra-fast ‘FLASH’ charging technology, although achieving the advertised speeds requires compatible high-power infrastructure.
Denza India Price And Launch Timeline
Denza is expected to position its vehicles above BYD’s current Indian portfolio, which includes the Sealion 7, Seal and Atto 3. The D9 could cost approximately Rs 85–90 lakh, while the Z9 GT is expected to be positioned around Rs 1.2–1.5 crore (ex-showroom).
Both models are expected to arrive as completely built-up imports initially. Denza may also establish a separate premium dealership network rather than selling its cars through regular BYD showrooms. However, November 13 is currently the confirmed brand debut date, not necessarily the commencement of retail sales or deliveries.
SearchEV Says
Denza’s entry could give BYD a stronger foothold in India’s luxury electric vehicle market.
The D9 enters a segment where models such as the MG M9 have already demonstrated growing interest in premium electric people movers.
Meanwhile, the Z9 GT offers a considerably more unconventional proposition, combining grand-touring practicality with supercar-like performance. However, pricing, after-sales support and the proposed dealership network will be critical to Denza’s success. November 13 should provide a clearer picture of BYD’s luxury ambitions in India.
