      • First Ather to be built on the new EL platform

Ather Energy has launched its new family electric scooter in India, which is also its most affordable product. It is called the ‘Ather Konarc’ and is priced from Rs 99,999 (ex-showroom). It is the first production model based on Ather’s new EL platform, which was developed as a more scalable and cost-effective architecture for the brand’s future range of electric scooters.

Unlike Ather’s performance-focused 450 series or the premium family scooter – the Ather Rizta, the Ather Konarc is focused on the budget-conscious buyer, whose main priorities are low running costs, good practicality, and excellent practicality.

      Ather Konarc Prices and Variants

The Konarc is available in 2 trims and 6 variants spread over them, with prices starting at Rs 99,999.

      Model Variant Range Price

Ather has slated the Konarc below the Rizta, making it the brand’s new entry point into its electric lineup. The bookings for the Konarc are open with a token amount of Rs 2,499, with deliveries slated for November 2025.

Ather Konarc Battery Range and Performance

The Ather Konarc is available in a total of six variants, which come with different combinations of battery packs and feature sets. The S-line variants of the Ather Konarc offer a claimed range of up to 200 km, while the Z-line tops out at 161 km.

The Ather Konarc S-line has a top speed of around 70 kmph, and the Z-line can sprint till 80 kmph, more than enough for the use case it is built for – the urban commute. The electric motor puts out 4 kW of peak power in the base S (100 km) variant and 4.7 kW in the S (125 km) and S (161 km) variants. The peak torque output is the same across all the variants with 16 Nm. The scooter also gets three ride modes: SmartEco, Eco, and Power.

The most interesting part about the Ather Konarc is its charging technology. While the Konarc comes equipped with an onboard 450W charger, you can enhance its charging speed by pairing it with a 450W portable unit, which gives it a combined charging speed of 900W, which is quite convenient. Also, there is an option of an additional 900 W portable charger, with which the combined charging capacity shoots up to 1350 W, which is quite fast for a scooter.

Ather Konarc Suspension, Brakes, and More

The Ather Konarc is arguably the cheapest scooter to come with a 14-inch front wheel from a mainstream EV manufacturer. The 14-inch wheel is supported by a 12-inch at the rear, which has 100mm of suspension travel from its rear monoshock, unheard of on a scooter in its segment. At the front, the Konarc gets a telescopic fork.

The Konarc’s wheelbase is about 1,352 mm, which is quite long and should make the stability even better than other Athers. The new Ather electric scooter also comes with a front disc and rear drum brake setup, which is assisted by a combined braking system and the new ‘AeBS’ technology, which reduces the risk of wheel locking and helps achieve 20% more brake force by combining the mechanical brakes with the electronic ones from the regenerative braking system. This has reduced the scooter’s stopping distance significantly and provided it with immense control.

      Ather Konarc Features

The Konarc comes with a fully digital display, with a tonne of modern features, which make it quite tech-loaded. The list included turn-by-turn navigation, music controls, call, and SMS alerts, among other features. One interesting and exclusive feature it gets is the Whatsapp call control, which many electric scooters, even from a segment above, lack.

Ather has also equipped the Konarc with a keyless system, dubbed ‘Magic Key’. Unlike most keyless systems, the scooter does not require the rider to press a button or turn a rotary knob to start it. The Konarc can also automatically lock itself once it detects that the Magic Key is no longer nearby.

If the rider accidentally moves away without the key fob, the scooter displays a notification on the screen, alerting them that the key is not within range. The Magic Key also gets a dedicated button to unlock the 31-litre underseat storage compartment, which pops open at the press of a button, adding another layer of convenience. And, if your hands are full, and you cannot access the key fob, Ather has put a dedicated button to pop the trunk below the backrest, which is an immensely convenient addition.

Additionally, the Ather Konarc also gets an Airwalk feature that detects when you are pushing your scooter through the numerous sensors it has and assists you with small nudges from the motor to make the experience a lot easier. This feature is particularly helpful when in tricky parking spots.

      SearchEV Says

We think Ather now means serious business competing with TVS and Bajaj. The Konarc, even though it’s more affordable than the iQube, and Chetak ranges, offers more features and utility, and that too at a lower price point.

What seems interesting is that Ather isn’t hellbent on competing with its rivals but has made a genuinely innovative product that now challenges what a basic, affordable family electric scooter has offered to date. The bar has been set high, and it would be quite interesting to see how the big players respond to the Konarc, because it is definitely going to steal a significant chunk of mass market buyers from them.
