Porsche is ready to expand its battery powered portfolio in the Indian market. The luxury automaker will officially debut the Cayenne Electric on September 30. While the company revealed the initial pricing structure late last year, this showcase marks the physical arrival of the SUV in the country. The vehicle competes directly in the premium segment against models like the Mercedes Benz EQS SUV and the Lotus Emeya.

Battery and Performance Specifications

The foundation of the Cayenne Electric is the 800 volt Premium Platform Electric architecture, which it shares with the Macan EV. Every version ships with a massive 113 kWh lithium ion battery pack. Buyers in India will choose between two primary variants. The standard Cayenne Electric produces 408 hp and accelerates from 0 to 100 kph in 4.8 seconds. This standard model delivers a claimed driving range of 642 kilometers.

The Cayenne Turbo Electric is built for raw speed. It generates up to 1,156 hp (higher than even the Taycan Turbo). This massive output allows the large SUV to hit 100 kph in just 2.5 seconds before reaching a top speed of 260 kph. Because of the heavier power draw, the claimed range for the Turbo variant drops slightly to 623 kilometers. Both models feature an adaptive air suspension as standard equipment, while rear axle steering remains an optional extra.

Charging and Aerodynamics

Porsche made significant improvements to the charging hardware. The SUV can pull up to 400 kW from a DC fast charger under ideal conditions. This allows the battery to go from 10 to 80 percent in under 16 minutes. A major highlight is the optional 11 kW wireless inductive charging pad. Owners can simply park over a floor pad to recharge the vehicle overnight without handling heavy cables. The electric motors also provide intense regenerative braking, recovering up to 600 kW of energy during deceleration.

To house these electronics, the Cayenne Electric measures 4,985 mm in length, making it 55 mm longer than the combustion engine version. The exterior keeps the classic Porsche silhouette but adds a blanked off grille, active aerodynamic vents, and gloss black lower cladding. Storage is highly practical with a 781 litre rear boot and a 90 litre front trunk.

Interior Layout

The dashboard houses a 14.5 inch curved infotainment touchscreen, which is a first for a Porsche model sold in India. Customers can also select an optional 14.9 inch screen for the front passenger and an augmented reality head up display. Standard equipment covers four zone automatic climate control, ventilated front seats, and a panoramic sunroof, and a 14-speaker Bose sound system (upgradable to a 20-speaker Harman Kardon system).
