Toyota has launched the top-spec E3 variant of the Toyota Urban Cruiser Ebella in India. It is a rebadged version of Maruti Suzuki’s eVitara, and is priced at Rs 23.60 lakh (ex-showroom). With this launch, Toyota has officially entered the EV race in India now.
The Urban Cruiser Ebella was first revealed earlier this year and is built on the same Born-E platform as the Maruti Suzuki eVitara. However, Toyota has attempted to position the Ebella as a slightly more premium offering with unique styling elements.
More Details About the Top-spec E3 Variant
The newly launched E3 trim comes equipped with a 61 kWh battery pack paired with a front axle-mounted electric motor, which puts out 128 kW (around 174 hp) of peak power and 189 Nm of peak torque. From this battery pack, the Ebella gets a claimed driving range of about 543 km, making it one of the long-range electric cars in its segment in India. It also supports fast charging, but the brand is yet to reveal all the additional details regarding this.
A Distinct Identity
The Toyota Ebella has a similar silhouette as the Maruti Suzuki eVitara, but comes with a bunch of futuristic and sleek-looking exterior styling elements. At the front end, it gets slim LED DRLs connected with a clean black panel, along with aggressive bumper accents and a closed-off grille. While the above might make it look like a typical electric SUV, the sharp body creases, chunky wheel arches, and the aerodynamic alloy wheels give it a very sporty profile. Also, the rear end has connected LED tail lamps and a clean bumper, which make it look broader and give it good road presence.
Ebella Convenience Features
The Toyota Urban Cruiser Ebella has a dual-screen layout, which looks quite elegant. While offering a cleaner interior experience, Toyota also gave the Ebella a much more premium treatment with soft-touch materials, and ambient lighting. For more convenience, the Toyota electric SUV also comes with ventilated front seats, a powered driver’s seat, a wireless charger, a panoramic sunroof, a JBL sound system, wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, sliding and reclining rear seats, and even a powered tailgate.
Toyota Ebella Safety Features
The new 2026 Ebella E3 is also equipped with a lot of safety features, including a level 2 ADAS suite. It includes adaptive cruise control tech, lane-keep assist, automatic emergency braking, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, and high beam assist.
Other safety features include seven airbags, a 360-degree camera, an electronic parking brake, hill hold assist, and Electronic Stability Control (ESC), along with front and rear parking sensors.
Our Take
The new 2026 Toyota Ebella E3 will compete with the Mahindra BE 6, Hyundai Creta Electric, Tata Curvv EV and MG ZS EV in India. The band is also expected to announce pricing for the lower E1 and E2 variants soon, making the lineup a lot more accessible to buyers looking for a midsize electric SUV on a budget.
The Urban Cruiser Ebella may share its platform with the eVitara, but Toyota appears to be positioning it as a more premium offering. With a claimed 543 km range, Level 2 ADAS, premium cabin features and Toyota’s reputation for reliability, the Ebella could emerge as a strong contender in the blooming mid-size electric SUV segment.
