Openable Panoramic Sunroof
One of the biggest differences from the XEV 9e is the roof. The XEV 9S gets an openable panoramic sunroof, rather than a fixed glass panel. Also, LightMeUp ambient lighting runs across the dashboard, door trims and sunroof. As a result, the cabin feels bright during the day and relaxed at night.
Mahindra XEV 9S Features for Second and Third Rows
Mahindra has paid close attention to rear passengers. The second row offers multi-step recline, adjustable headrests and its own AC vents. Rear passengers also get a 15W wireless charger with cooling. Meanwhile, the third row gets multi-step recline and dedicated AC vents with blower control, which is rare in this segment. In addition, ISOFIX mounts make it easy to fit child seats.
Screens, Audio and Connectivity
Across the dashboard, three 12.3-inch screens serve the driver, the centre console and the front passenger. Also, the 16-speaker Harman Kardon system supports Dolby Atmos and VenueScapes Live. For connectivity, the XEV 9S offers 5G, wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, built-in Alexa and ChatGPT. On top of that, 60+ apps and video calling with an in-car camera come included.
ADAS and Safety Features
The XEV 9S uses five radars and one vision camera for its Level 2 ADAS. Key functions include adaptive cruise control, lane centering, autonomous emergency braking and blind spot detection. Also, Highway Assist can change lanes when the driver taps the indicator. For extra protection, Autonomous Emergency Steering and Evasive Steering Assist help avoid obstacles. Meanwhile, seven airbags, including a knee airbag, come as standard on top versions.
Parking and Security
Parking a seven-seater can be tricky, so Mahindra adds plenty of help. For example, full auto parking handles the steering for you. Also, a 360-degree camera, a blind view monitor and front and rear parking sensors come included. For security, Secure 360 offers both live view and recording of the car’s surroundings.
Convenience Modes and Keyless Access
The XEV 9S includes several smart modes for daily use. Pet Mode keeps the cabin cool for animals left inside briefly, while Camp Mode and Keep Mode maintain climate when you’re outside the car. Also, Live Your Mood offers Club, Calm and Cosy settings. For access, you can use an NFC key card or your phone as a key, along with passive keyless entry.
Points to Note Before Buying
The XEV 9S uses CapTouch touch-sensitive switches, so there are few physical buttons, including for the AC. Also, the third row works best for average-sized adults or children on longer trips.
