India’s e-scooter market hit a new sales high in August 2025. TVS, Ola, and Ather lead the market with record-breaking figures.
India’s e-scooter market witnessed astonishing growth last August, making it the highest ever in the history of e-scooter sales in India. All these heavyweights, among them the fast-moving giant TVS, the new urban electric vehicle manufacturer Ola Electric, and the rapidly evolving Ather Energy, leveraged all sales benefits to bring a surge in the growth and acceptance of electric two-wheelers across the country.
Market Share by Automaker
The surge in sales indicates the healthy competition prevalent within the segment, and many other manufacturers have cashed in on substantial sales. In a thrilling race for supremacy in the market arena, TVS Motor continues to lead. Right behind TVS were other major players, Ola and Ather.
| Automaker | August 2025 Sales | Total Sales | Percentage Increase |
| TVS Motor | 25,138 | 200,987 | 30% |
| Ola Electric | 18,972 | 151,776 | -31% |
| Ather Energy | 17,856 | 142,848 | 62% |
| Bajaj Auto | 11,730 | 93,840 | -30% |
- Selling above 25,000 units, TVS Motor maintained impressive supremacy with its model, the iQube.
- Ola Electric has presumably reclaimed its glory in monthly sales, for it has forged a complete recovery from the significant year-on-year loss due to a good performance in August.
- Ather Energy reported the highest sales, recording its best-ever volume of sales so far, with a year-on-year growth of 62% stimulated by the new Rizta family scooter and software updates.
- Bajaj Auto’s sales have been poor this month due to temporary supply chain disruptions emerging from the shortage of rare earth magnets.
Policy and Future Outlook
These exceptional figures reflect the benefits of certain government policies like the FAME II subsidy, which would actively help to bring electric scooters closer to consumers. New model launches and installation of charging infrastructure networks allow keeping the tempo in this space.
Competition is heating up as companies aim to capture market share through innovative ideas. Ather has launched its next-generation EL platform, and Bajaj has increased production of its Chetak scooters. Despite global supply chain issues affecting several manufacturers, the future for India’s electric scooter sector remains optimistic. According to reports, the sector will continue to expand during the festive season, driven by improved products and shifting market trends.
