Hero MotoCorp appears to be moving ahead with its first electric motorcycle. The upcoming Vida VxZ has now been spotted testing on Indian roads for the first time, suggesting that development of the model is progressing. The electric motorcycle was first revealed in concept form at EICMA 2025, and more recently, the company filed design patents in India.
Spy shots now show the motorcycle being tested on roads around Jaipur, Rajasthan, close to one of Hero MotoCorp’s main manufacturing facilities. The Vida VxZ is being developed with support from Zero Motorcycles, the US-based brand that specialises in electric motorcycles.
Design And Styling
The motorcycle spotted during testing looks fairly close to what the final production version could be, though a few areas were still covered in camouflage. A few other details can also be seen, such as five-spoke alloy wheels, a muscular tank-style body panel, a stepped seat, and a compact rear section. Together, these elements give the motorcycle a sporty road presence.
At the front, the motorcycle features a diamond-shaped LED headlamp along with Vida’s signature LED DRLs. Other visible styling elements include five-spoke alloy wheels, a muscular tank-like structure, a stepped seat arrangement, and a compact rear section. The overall stance gives the bike a sporty and aggressive look.
The spy shots also give a glimpse of some of the hardware. The motorcycle seems to use USD front forks, while the rear is likely to get a monoshock suspension setup. For braking duties, it is expected to have disc brakes at both the front and rear, with ABS likely to be offered as a standard safety feature. Another interesting detail is the belt-drive system, which replaces the usual chain drive seen on most petrol motorcycles.
Features And Technology
The design patent filed earlier indicates that the Vida VxZ could feature a fully digital instrument display. This screen would likely show basic ride information such as battery level, remaining range, and other riding data. It is also expected to come with different ride modes, allowing riders to choose how the motorcycle responds in different riding conditions.
One interesting point is that the bike doesn’t look similar to any of Zero Motorcycles’ current models. Because of that, it is believed that Hero and Zero may have worked together on a completely new platform for this electric motorcycle.
Expected Performance And Range
Hero MotoCorp hasn’t revealed the official specifications of the Vida VxZ yet. That said, early reports suggest the electric motorcycle could deliver performance comparable to a 150cc petrol bike.
As for range, early reports suggest the bike could travel more than 200 km on a single charge, though the company will reveal the exact figure closer to launch. If these estimates turn out to be accurate, the bike could compete with upcoming electric motorcycles like the Ola Roadster X and Royal Enfield Flying Flea.
Possible Launch Timeline
With road testing now in progress, the Vida VxZ seems to be gradually heading toward production. The electric motorcycle is expected to arrive in the Indian market
by the end of 2026. Once launched, it will become Hero MotoCorp’s first electric motorcycle, as the company currently sells only electric scooters under the Vida brand in the Indian market.
