Skoda, the Czech automaker, is gearing up to reveal its new seven-seater electric SUV later this month. The upcoming electric SUV model is expected to be the Skoda Peaq, which will become the carmaker’s flagship EV and also its largest electric SUV, built to date. The new 7-seater SUV is the production version of the Vision 7S concept first showcased in 2022 and will sit at the top of Skoda’s global EV lineup above the Enyaq and Elroq.
Based On The Vision 7S Concept
The Peaq is inspired heavily by the Skoda Vision 7S concept, which introduced Skoda’s Modern Solid design language. In this design language, we expect the Peaq to have T-shaped lighting elements, the brand’s Tech-Deck front fascia and a cleaner, more minimalist design approach than current Skoda SUVs. Previous teasers also confirmed a three-row layout, making it the first seven-seat electric SUV from Skoda, the largest in the Volkswagen Group’s EV lineup.
Built On Volkswagen’s MEB+ Platform
The new upcoming EV is expected to use Volkswagen Group’s MEB+ architecture, which also underpins models such as the Volkswagen ID.4, ID.7 and Skoda Enyaq. Reports suggest buyers could get multiple battery options, including a larger 91kWh pack capable of delivering around 600km of range on international test cycles.
Peaq will initially be available with three variants: 60, 90, and 90X. The variants will get a 63 kWh and a 91 kWh (in 90, and 90X variants and the same as the VW ID.7 Pro S). Both the 60 and 90 variants are single motor RWD, while the 90X gets a dual-motor setup with AWD. The brand also revealed that the 60 variant will come standard with the 150 kW (201 hp) APP350 motor, while the 90 will put out 210 kW (285 hp). The 90X AWD model will make 220 kW (295 hp) of peak power, and has a claimed 0-100 kmph time of 6.7 seconds.
Could It Come To India?
While Skoda India has not officially confirmed that the Peaq will arrive or not, company executives have previously indicated that more global electric vehicles are being evaluated for the Indian market. If launched here, the Peaq would likely sit at the top of the brand’s lineup, with an expected price of more than Rs 70 lakh ex-showroom.
