Market Momentum and OEM Dispatches
The sales of electric passenger vehicles witnessed an upward turn in June 2026, with 33,656 units dispatched by manufacturers to dealers, reflecting consumers’ high preference for electric vehicles amidst rising owner concerns over ethanol blending in fuel.
Tata Motors continued to anchor the segment, dispatching 14,657 units. Rather than relying on a single volume driver, Tata spread its sales across a wide portfolio. An important driving force behind the success of Tata Motors is the launch of the new Tata Sierra EV, with 1,516 units being dispatched as deliveries were launched nationwide.
Mahindra maintained the second position with 7,603 units sold. MG Motor India recorded one of the sharpest month-on-month increases, growing its EV volumes by 33.8% to reach 5,971 units. Meanwhile, Maruti Suzuki continues to scale up its electric operations, with the eVitara posting 2,003 dispatches.

The Rise of the MG Windsor
A closer look at model-specific data reveals a shift at the top of the sales chart. The MG Windsor broke through to become the highest-dispatched electric vehicle in India for June. With twice the number of cars dispatched compared to last month at 4,056 units, the Windsor managed to outdo the established rivals. This is primarily because of the number of features that the car offers, its spacious cabin and the BaaS model of ownership.
Next came the Mahindra XEV 9S. With its sales at 4,018 units, the electric SUV has been winning over buyers who require a feature-laden, spacious cabin and have the need for high driving range.
