The all-electric Mercedes GLC EV presents an 800 Volt platform with the capability of a long range with a futuristic MBUX Hyperscreen.
Mercedes has launched its all-electric GLC EV on the basis of a dedicated electric platform at the Munich Motor Show. The car was shown in Germany and is expected to come to the global markets by 2026.
All-Electric Platform and Powertrain Options
GLC EV and the so-called GLC with EQ Technology are very important models in the Mercedes electrification plan. Unlike the other GLC, which combines the electric powertrain with an old platform, this new version is based on the 800 Volt-compatible MB.EA platform designed from scratch for electric vehicles. This new architecture represents the best efficiency and performance.
Two versions will be offered for customers to choose from when the SUV comes to market:
- GLC 300+: Single-motor RWD producing 374 hp.
- GLC 400 4Matic: Dual-motor AWD with a huge output of 489 hp.

High-Tech Interior and Futuristic Design
Groundbreaking technology dominates the GLC EV cabin. Its most remarkable feature is the 39.1-inch MBUX Hyperscreen, implementing the largest display ever fitted by Mercedes in a production car. This single-curved glass panel combines the driver’s instrument cluster, the central infotainment screen, and a separate display for the front passenger.
Mercedes has also heeded public opinion in reintroducing a few physical buttons on the steering wheel and center console for key functions, amidst an otherwise touch-centric selection of controls.
It has just as distinctive a look on the exterior: a huge front grille made from unique “smoked-glass” material with 942 backlit dots and an illuminated central star. The headlights and taillights flaunt a new star-shaped signature, catapulting the vehicle into a futuristic and instantly recognizable realm.
Charging and Efficiency
The new 800V platform offers fast charging at ultra-speeds. Under ideal conditions, the GLC EV can charge from 10% to 80% in just 24 minutes. Quick top-ups of around 303 km of range can also be gained in 10 minutes. The vehicle can also serve as a power source or send energy back to the power grid for one’s home through V2H- and V2G-enabled charging at markets.
