Oben Electric announced that its newest electric motorcycle – the Oben Rorr Evo – just crossed 25,000 bookings, and that too in just the first two weeks. The Bengaluru-based startup also claimed that this is among the fastest milestones achieved by an electric bike. This sales surge confirms the strong demand for electric bikes in India, especially the aggressive-looking ones.
The Oben Rorr Evo was launched a couple of weeks ago, with an introductory price tag of Rs 99,999, but only for the first ten thousand customers. After this, the bike will be priced at Rs 1,24,999 (both prices are effective ex-showroom). So, after this successful initial launch, the brand has now opened the payment portal where you can pay for the bike. The brand also announced that the deliveries will begin from June 2026.
A major part of the brand’s strategy seems to be the rapidly expanding retail stores, aided by the service network. The brand currently has more than 150 operational showrooms, across 100+ cities and across 18 states of India. The brand also claims that every showroom is supported by a dedicated ‘Oben Care’ service centre, creating a safe, hassle-free shopping experience, and EV ecosystem. Oben Electric also reported a customer satisfaction score of 91%, which is more than enough to cement its reputation as a trusted manufacturer in the Indian EV space.
Our Opinion
In our opinion, the Oben Rorr Evo’s booking numbers show that Indian customers are finally beginning to understand new products and are less hesitant to try something new. While purists, might think otherwise, the new generation of buyers definitely want something that looks good and packs a bunch of modern features, all while keeping the running costs low.
But Oben’s real challenge will begin once deliveries start. This sales momentum and the hype will only be fruitful if they keep up the product quality, after-sales support, and a consistent customer experience at their dealerships. And, we do genuinely think that if everything goes well, this might just not be a hyped-up launch but, a long-term success story.
