Yamaha Aerox-e Electric Scooter Launched in India

Yamaha has revealed the Aerox-E, a fast electric scooter based on the popular Aerox 155. The Aerox-E carries Yamaha’s “Heart-Shaking Speedster” design philosophy into the electric era. The scooter is expected to come in India at a starting price of roughly ₹1.60 lakh (ex-showroom); however, no official launch details have been out. It will compete with the Ola S1 Pro Sport, which costs ₹1.50 lakh (ex-showroom).

Design and style

The Aerox-E adheres to Yamaha’s athletic design language. It has:

  • ‘X’-themed centre motif
  • Dual-LED Class-D headlights
  • LED flashers
  • A 3D-effect LED taillight

Yamaha describes the Aerox-E as embodying a balance of speed, style, and utility. The scooter’s ergonomic grip design allows for fast removal of the battery packs, allowing riders to charge them at home – a feature intended to boost everyday usability.

Performance and Powertrain

The Aerox-E is powered by dual removable 3 kWh battery packs (1.5 kW each) with high-energy type cells. They give a verified range of 106 km on a single charge. Produces 12.6 bhp of peak power and 48 Nm of torque, placing it among the most powerful scooters in its class. Yamaha claims that the setup gets strong acceleration & dynamic handling, mirroring the DNA of its petrol-powered counterpart.

Features and technology

The Aerox-E is equipped with modern features such as:

  • 5-inch full-colour TFT display with Yamaha’s Y-Connect mobile app.
  • Turn-by-turn navigation, maintenance reminders, and tracking of the last parking spot
  • Smart key system, reverse mode, and boost mode for enhanced performance.
  • The vehicle has three ride modes: Eco, Standard, and Power. It also has disc brakes on both ends with single-channel ABS.

These characteristics turn the Aerox-E into a feature-rich electric scooter that blends convenience and cutting-edge technology.

Yamaha’s statement on India’s EV vision

Mr Itaru Otani, Chairman of Yamaha Motor India Group, commented on the unveiling: “India is fundamental to Yamaha’s global growth strategy—a country where we see huge potential across both luxury and electric mobility segments. The introduction of the XSR brand, our new EV vehicles, and the FZ-Rave is a significant step toward increasing our footprint and aligning with India’s growing mobility landscape.” He also stated that Yamaha remains committed to assisting India’s transition to sustainable mobility, as outlined in its Environmental Plan 2050.

The Road Ahead

Yamaha unveiled its first locally made electric scooter, the EC-06, along with the Aerox-E, and this was built in collaboration with River. The EC-06 model is slated to go on sale in India in early 2026, with pricing & the delivery specification to be announced soon.

The Aerox-E, Yamaha’s entry into the high-performance EV market, blends athletic styling with everyday practicality. If entered in the Indian market at the expected price, it can definitely become one of the most popular electric scooters.
