Key Features on the Earth
The Earth comes well equipped for a base trim. Inside, a driver-facing 12.9-inch touchscreen handles infotainment and most controls. In addition, dual-zone automatic climate control lets the driver and front passenger set their own temperatures. The driver also gets a 6-way powered seat. Outside, the VF7’s signature V-shaped LED lighting and flush door handles give it a premium look from the start.
Safety on the Base Model
The Earth doesn’t cut corners on safety. Every VF7, including this one, gets 7 airbags, ESC, traction control and hill start assist. Moreover, a 360-degree camera makes parking this large SUV much easier. As a result, the Earth shares the VF7’s 5-star Bharat NCAP rating.
The Rs 25 Lakh Advantage in Bengaluru
The Earth is the only VF7 priced below Rs 25 lakh, and that matters a lot in Karnataka. EVs up to Rs 25 lakh attract 5% registration, while pricier ones pay 10%. Therefore, the Earth costs about Rs 25.52 lakh on-road, while the Wind jumps to about Rs 30.03 lakh. That’s a gap of roughly Rs 4.5 lakh, far more than the ex-showroom difference.
What the Earth Misses
To keep the price lower, the Earth skips several features. Most notably, it uses the smaller 59.6 kWh battery, so it misses out on the Wind’s 532 km range. It also lacks Level 2 ADAS, the panoramic glass roof and AWD. In addition, comfort upgrades like ventilated seats and the head-up display start from the Wind.
Earth or Wind?
The VF7 Wind costs about Rs 2.9 lakh more ex-showroom. In return, it adds nearly 100 km of range, more power, ADAS and ventilated seats. However, in Bengaluru, the on-road gap grows to about Rs 4.5 lakh. So, if you mainly drive in the city, the Earth gives you the VF7’s space, design and safety for much less.
