A new all-electric taxi service called Green SM, has begun operations in Delhi-NCR. Green SM is a taxi operator that is backed by Vingroup – the parent company of VinFast. This new service will use a fleet of VinFast Limo Green electric MPVs (Multi Purpose Utility Vehicles), making it one of the first large-scale deployments of this model in India. With these taxis, the brand will particularly cater to the airport, corporate offices, and city transportation services as a fully electric alternative to private taxi services.
Why Was VinFast Limo Green Chosen?
The VinFast Limo Green is a dedicated electric MPV developed primarily for commercial mobility. Unlike many other electric cars that are currently on sale, the Limo Green has been designed from the outset with passenger transport and fleet operations in mind.
It is powered by a 60.13 kWh battery pack, which gives it an ARAI-certified range of up to 517 km on a full charge. It’s driven by a single electric motor that makes 148 kW (201 hp) of peak power and 280 Nm of torque. The car also supports DC fast charging, which means it can be juiced up much more quickly than conventional electric vehicles with AC charging.
Designed For Passenger Comfort
The Limo Green is more of a practical, comfortable car than an outright luxurious one. It offers more than enough space, large windows, and a decent amount of headroom with its MPV design.
The production spec version of the Limo Green is expected to get the following features:
- Large touchscreen infotainment system
- Connected car technology
- Automatic climate control
- Rear AC vents
- Multiple USB charging ports
- Advanced driver assistance and safety features
Why This Matters For VinFast
With this service, the Vietnamese manufacturer has placed its products on the roads directly. The benefit of this move is that these vehicles will be available to experience at the click of a button on your phone. And these vehicles will essentially work as moving VinFast showrooms for thousands of customers.
The company is already investing heavily in its Tamil Nadu manufacturing plant and has plans to introduce multiple models in India, like the VF3, and the VF8 electric SUVs. And, until this happens, the buyers will have had a taste of what they are buying into, building brand trust.
