Tata Motors released a fresh new teaser on their social media handle yesterday. And, what’s so special about it? It finally confirms the debut of Tata Sierra EV on June 30, 2026. The most interesting thing in this teaser is that we got to see the ‘QWD’ (Quad Wheel Drive) badge on the car’s quarter-glass panel. This confirms that the new Tata Sierra EV will get a dual-motor setup, with AWD (All Wheel Drive), which will make it a good offroader.
AWD System
The Tata Sierra EV will share a lot of components with the Harrier EV, which could include the powertrain and battery packs. While Tata’s CCO Vivek Srivastava had earlier confirmed that the Sierra EV will come with single, and dual-motor configurations. The lower-spec variants will get a RWD setup, while the AWD setup will be reserved for higher variants, just like the Tata Harrier EV. We also think that the 65 kWh, and the 75 kWh battery packs could be borrowed from the Harrier EV, so we can assume it might debut with similar performance. But, this is yet to be confirmed by Tata Motors.
Rugged Yet Classy
One more thing that we got a good look at was the Sierra EV’s design. It retains the same silhouette as the ICE Sierra, which includes the rear, connected glass treatment, a bold stance, and futuristic looking LED lighting elements. The teaser also shows that the Sierra EV comes with a closed-off grille, and other subtle aerodynamic changes which differentiate it from the ICE Sierra.
Expect Premium Features
Just like other Tata Electric cars, we expect the Sierra EV to be quite feature-packed. It could get a dual-screen setup, connected car technology, a panoramic sunroof, ventilated seats, Level-2 ADAS, a 360-degree camera, and vehicle-to-load (V2L) tech as well.
What We Think
We think that with the reveal of QWD or the AWD powertrain, Tata Motors is trying to blend the nostalgia associated with the OG Tata Sierra SUV, with its newer electric sibling. And, it has definitely hyped up a lot of potential buyers. All eyes are now on June 30, 2026, when the brand will reveal more details, claimed range figures, and also variants.
