Skoda Auto has announced major updates for the Elroq and Enyaq electric SUVs for the European markets as of now. The updates will majorly focus on upgrading the technology and practicality, while the design might not change much. These updates will be rolled out around mid-2026; the final dates are yet to be announced.
Skoda Elroq and Enyaq 2026: Major Updates
Here are the key announcements that were made regarding the 2026 updates:
1. Major tech and software overhaul
- Android-based Infotainment: Skoda is moving to a much more intuitive system with a redesigned home screen, customizable grid layouts, and better search.
- In-Car App Store: You’ll be able to download third-party apps like YouTube and Spotify directly to the car.
- Google Integration: The system will feature native Google Maps and Google search, allowing you to sync your saved favourites if you log in with your account.
- Digital Key: For the first time, you’ll be able to lock, unlock, and start the car using just your smartphone via the MySkoda app.
2. Practical “Simply Clever” Additions
- The “Frunk”: Both models will finally get a 21-litre front trunk (with gas struts for easy opening), which is perfect for storing charging cables.
- V2L (Vehicle-to-Load): You’ll be able to use the car’s battery to power external devices like camping gear or electric bikes via a 230V socket.
- Better Wireless Charging: The “Phone Box” is being upgraded to support Qi2 magnetic charging (up to 25W), which is great news for newer iPhone users.
3. Hardware & Battery Changes
- LFP Batteries: The entry-level “60” variants will switch to Lithium Iron Phosphate (LFP) chemistry. These batteries are generally more durable and better for daily 100% charging, even if they are slightly heavier.
- One-Pedal Driving: Skoda has refined the regenerative braking so the car can come to a complete standstill; all you have to do is lift off the accelerator.
- Safety Upgrades: A new interior camera will monitor driver fatigue (via eye-tracking), and updated radars will improve safety at complex intersections.
Why these updates?
Skoda Elroq has been one of the best-selling EVs in Europe, raking in a sales figure of over 95,000 units in 2025. It also got the prestigious German Car of the Year 2026 award. Skoda Enyaq also ended the year with over 80,000 units being sold in 2025, making it one of the top 10 electric vehicles sold in Europe. It is important to upgrade both family-oriented electric SUVs to address common first-generation issues and provide a better product for customers.
Can we expect the Skoda Enyaq 2026 & the Skoda Elroq in India?
While there is no official confirmation on the India launch, we can surely expect both the SUVs to come to India, as the country is witnessing a rapid growth in demand for electric SUVs.
We can expect the Skoda Enyaq to be launched in India in mid to late 2026. You can expect the price to be over Rs. 50 lakhs, as Skoda might bring the Enyaq via the CBU unit initially. If launched, it will rival the Kia EV6 and the Hyundai Ioniq 5. As for the Skoda Elroq, it might come to India in early 2027. Skoda might evaluate local assembly for the Elroq, in order to put it up against the likes of the Hyundai Creta EV, Vinfast VF6, Tata Harrier EV, Mahindra BE6, and much more. Skoda should consider pricing the Elroq between Rs. 18 lakhs and Rs. 30 lakhs, as this range appeals to electric SUV buyers in India.
