What To Expect From the New Simple Family Scooter
Although technical specifications of the new Simple family electric scooter remain under wraps, it is expected to get a 3 kWh battery pack, from which it could get a claimed range of around 150 km.
Other highlights include:
- Wide and comfortable seat
- Flat floorboard for better utility
- Larger storage spaces
- Upright riding position
- Family-oriented ergonomics
- Lower seat height
The overall styling appears cleaner and more understated, indicating that the scooter is designed for a much wider audience base.
Why Does The New Simple Family Scooter Matter?
Simple Energy has largely competed in the premium performance electric scooter space since its inception in the Indian market. But all it had in its portfolio were compact, sporty electric scooters, namely the Simple OneS, and the Simple One (Both Gen 2 as of now). While as products they were quite good, and captured the market soon, but due to their radical styling, family buyers were quite skeptical about buying them.
So, the brand, to tackle this, and crack the massive budget market, had to give the buyers a choice of something neutral, easy-to-ride, and most importantly practical.
Also, the family scooter segment currently accounts for a significant share of electric two-wheeler sales, with products like the TVS iQube, Bajaj Chetak and Ather Rizta consistently featuring among the country’s best-selling electric scooters.
So, launching a mass-market family scooter could help Simple Energy significantly expand its customer base and strengthen its position among other brands like Ather and Bajaj.
Our Take
Simple Energy’s upcoming scooter could be one of the company’s most important launches to date. While its current lineup has earned recognition for performance and good range, the massive sales potential lies in the family scooter category. If this new model is priced competitively and offers practical features, it could help Simple Energy challenge established players like TVS, Bajaj, Ather and Honda, maybe even give them a good run for their money.
