      What's good

      What's good

      • Business Class Comfort: Those reclining rear seats are the best in the segment.
      • Tech Overload: The 15.6-inch screen and glass roof feel very “Tesla-like.”
      • Practicality: Massive boot and class-leading legroom.
      • BaaS Option: Makes the initial purchase price much more accessible.
      What's not so good

      What's not so good

      • Form over Function: Lack of physical buttons is frustrating.
      • Polarizing Looks: The MPV-ish silhouette isn’t for everyone.
      • Soft Handling: Not for those who enjoy a spirited, “planted” drive.

The MG Windsor EV is India’s first intelligent CUV, boasting a stylish and classy all-electric crossover design. It has a variety of distinctive features, such as dual-tone ivory interiors, an Infinity View glass roof, and a huge 15.6-inch touchscreen. With 6 airbags and Level 2 ADAS, safety is a top priority, and two battery packs (38 kWh and 52.9 kWh) provide a range of 332-449 kilometres.

      Expert Verdict

While all the carmakers are busy making butch-up SUVs, MG did something different with the Windsor EV; it went the “CUV” way, which means a Crossover Utility Vehicle. It is literally a tech-loaded cabin with superior comfort on wheels.

      MG Windsor EV Design

      ★ 8/10

      Exterior

The Windsor’s design is polarizing. It’s got a clean, aerodynamic “monovolume” shape that looks like a futuristic MPV. You get the now-standard LED light bars at the front and rear, but the 18-inch alloys and the massive wheelbase (which is surprisingly long for its footprint) give it a unique presence. It doesn’t scream “tough,” but it does scream “modern.”

      Interior

This is where the Windsor scores the most. It feels a segment above. The “Grand View” glass roof and the 256-color ambient lighting create a vibe that none of its rivals can match at this price. The dashboard is dominated by a massive 15.6-inch “Grandview” Touchscreen. However, MG’s obsession with a minimalist look means almost all physical buttons are gone, which can be a bit of a distraction while driving.

      Build Quality

You will surely see a better fit and finish than the domestic rivals. Most of the materials used inside the cabin feel premium, with only a few hard plastics that you’ll find lower down in the cabin. It won’t feel like a tank, like the Tata cars, but it surely feels more surgically assembled.

      MG Windsor EV Features

      ★ 8/10

MG really went all-out to make the Windsor feel like a gadget on wheels. The first thing you’ll notice is that massive 15.6-inch touchscreen; it’s basically like having a MacBook stuck to your dashboard. It controls almost everything, which looks cool and very “Tesla-esque,” but honestly, the lack of physical buttons for the AC or mirrors can be a bit annoying when you’re driving.

The real “wow” factor, though, is the rear seat. They call it the “Aero Lounge” and for a good reason, the seats recline way back (up to 135 degrees), which is a blessing if you’re being driven around by a chauffeur. Add the huge glass roof and the 256-color ambient lighting to that, and the cabin feels incredibly airy and premium at night.

For the music lovers, the 9-speaker Infinity system is quite punchy and definitely beats most of the competition. You also get the usual “goodies” like ventilated front seats (a must for our summers), a 360-degree camera that’s actually sharp, and a powered tailgate.

One very “tech-forward” addition is the V2L (Vehicle-to-Load) capability, meaning you can plug in your laptop or even a coffee maker using the car’s battery. It’s a solid package, though we really wish they hadn’t put every single control inside that screen.

MG Windsor EV Performance & Range

      ★ 8/10

Are you planning to go to drag races? If yes, then the MG Windsor EV is not the pick for you. If not, well, you’re the customer, then MG planned to sell the EV while designing it. In the real world, this means the car feels very smooth and effortless in city traffic. You get that instant EV “zip,” but it’s tuned to be progressive rather than neck-snapping.

You get four driving modes: Eco+, Eco, Normal, and Sport. For your daily office runs, ‘Eco’ or ‘Normal’ is more than enough. ‘Sport’ does sharpen things up, but honestly, this car feels most at home when you’re cruising calmly.

As for the range expectations, you won’t be disappointed. The 38kWh battery pack gets a certified range of 331 km, but in real life, you’ll be able to squeeze around 280 km, thanks to the regenerative braking. The 52.9kWh battery pack has a certified range of 449 km. In the real world, with this battery pack, you’ll be able to clock about 350 km on a single charge, which is pretty decent for a car of this size.

MG Windsor EV Ride & Handling

      ★ 10/10

You’ll feel nearly nothing from the road. The suspension setup is tuned for the Indian roads, making it close to perfect if you’re seeking comfort. The steering is light, making it a breeze to park in tight spots. With this suspension setup, you might feel some body roll if you’re going aggressive, but well, that’s a trade-off one should not worry about, if you’re looking for comfort.

      MG Windsor EV Safety

      ★ 8/10

While there is no crash test done for the MG Windsor EV (at the time this review was written, i.e., April 1st, 2026), we can expect a good rating, if not a 5-star. It gets 6 airbags as standard, along with ESC, hill-start assist, and four-disc brakes. Higher trims also offer Level 2 ADAS, which works quite smoothly in Indian lane-marking conditions.

MG Windsor EV Space & Comfort

      ★ 10/10

This is where the MG Windsor EV outshines any car in the segment. Because it’s built on a dedicated EV skateboard platform, the floor is flat, and the cabin space is massive.

      • Rear Seat: This has more legroom than some luxury sedans. Even 6-footers will be comfortable.
      • Boot Space: At nearly 600 litres, it’s a cavern. You can pack for a week-long family trip without breaking a sweat.

MG Windsor EV Charging & Warranty

      ★ 10/10

On a 60kW DC fast charger, you can go from 0 to 80% in about 50-55 minutes. If you’re charging at home with a standard 7.4kW wallbox, the smaller battery takes about 6-7 hours, while the bigger one will need a full overnight charge (around 9-10 hours). It’s pretty convenient if you have a dedicated parking spot with a charger.

MG’s “BaaS” (Battery as a Service) model is a game-changer for lowering the entry price, though the rental calculations can be confusing for some. MG offers a Lifetime Battery Warranty for the first owner, which is a huge peace of mind factor for EV skeptics.

MG Windsor EV Service & Network

      ★ 8/10

MG currently has a network of about 540+ touchpoints across India. The experience at MG workshops usually feels organized and “tech-first.” They’ve also rolled out mobile service vans that can handle minor software glitches or basic checkups at your doorstep, which is a huge plus for EV owners.

The maintenance costs for an EV are usually low, and the MG Windsor EV is also going to offer a similar experience. Moreover, you’ll see that the MG’s service packages are quite transparent. You’re basically just looking at cabin filter changes, brake fluid top-ups, and tire rotations. Most users report that the turnaround time at MG centers is faster, and it might be due to the fact that they aren’t as overwhelmed with volume as some of the bigger players.

One thing to note is that MG is very proactive with software updates. Since the Windsor EV is basically a “computer on wheels,” you might find yourself visiting the service center more for a software patch than a mechanical fix.
