Maruti Suzuki India Limited has made an electrifying announcement of the EV infrastructure roadmap along with the formal unveiling of its first electric SUV, the e-Vitara. The company has set a target to eliminate consumer worries regarding range anxiety and create “full ecosystem readiness” before the 2026 sales of the e-Vitara start. The plan includes installing a large network of charging points across the country.

Ambitious Charger Goal

Maruti Suzuki has presented a vision for the future that includes a huge network of charging stations, particularly intended for electric usage, which will be one of the largest in India. This step is aimed not only at the gradual electric model but also at maintaining a stronghold in the EV market by the end of the decade.

Infrastructure Target Detail
Long-Term Goal Over 1 lakh charging points by 2030
Partnerships Collaboration with 13 leading Charge Point Operators (CPOs)
Investment ₹250 crore allocated for infrastructure and software development

Initial Network Ready

Following its customer-oriented strategy, Maruti Suzuki has already set up a considerable number of charging stations, which are made available to the public through an integrated digital platform known as ‘e for me’. With this application, users can conveniently find chargers, get directions, and make payments.

e-Vitara SUV Specs

The e-Vitara is constructed on the new HEARTECT-e platform, making it Maruti Suzuki’s first exclusive electric SUV, and its availability is only through the premium Nexa outlets. It will come with two battery options to choose from.

Specification Detail
Battery Options 49 kWh and 61 kWh
Max Range (61 kWh) 543 km (ARAI certified)
Variants Delta, Zeta, and Alpha (FWD only for India launch)

Safety and Features

One of the main aspects of the new electric SUV is safety. The e-Vitara scored the maximum rating in crash tests, thus reassuring the customer’s trust in its sturdiness and the safety precautions for the passengers.

  • Safety Rating: 5-star rating from Bharat NCAP.
  • Airbags: Equipped with 7 standard airbags.
  • Driver Aids: Features a Level-2 ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance System) suite.
  • Interior: Comes with a large infotainment screen, digital instrument cluster, and connected car technology.

Ownership Options Focus

In order to make accessibility to car ownership as easy as possible, the firm is rolling out various versatile arrangements together with the regular sale model. The opening of e-Vitara pre-bookings is planned for January 2026.

  • BaaS Option:  Battery-as-a-Service plan, which enables different payments for the battery.
  • Subscription: A consumer-friendly monthly payment subscription plan makes the service available.
  • Buyback: A buyback program that guarantees repurchase for the customer’s peace of mind.
