Comfort Upgrades Over the Pack One Above
The Pack Two Above brings a clear step up in comfort. For example, ventilated front seats help during hot Indian summers. Also, a 6-way powered driver seat makes it easier to find a comfortable position. In addition, a 16-speaker Harman Kardon system with Dolby Atmos replaces the base audio setup. On the safety side, a 360-degree camera helps when parking this large SUV.
Range and Charging on the 70 kWh Battery
The 70 kWh pack delivers a claimed 600 km, which is 79 km more than the 59 kWh battery. On a 160 kW DC fast charger, it charges from 20 to 80% in about 20 minutes. Also, Mahindra’s 7.2 kW and 11.2 kW wall boxes allow convenient overnight charging at home. As with every XEV 9S, the battery has a lifetime warranty for the first private owner.
Performance
The 180 kW (241 bhp) rear motor produces 380 Nm of torque. It sits between the 59 kWh version’s 228 bhp and the 79 kWh version’s 282 bhp. Mahindra quotes around 7 seconds for the 0 to 100 km/h sprint on its more powerful versions. Also, all the usual drive modes and single-pedal driving are available.
On-Road Price Impact in Karnataka
At Rs 25.05 lakh, this version sits just Rs 5,000 above Karnataka’s Rs 25 lakh registration threshold. As a result, it pays 10% registration instead of 5%. In Bengaluru, that makes it about Rs 3.9 lakh costlier on-road than the Pack One Above 79, which has more range but fewer comfort features. In most other states, this gap is much smaller.
70 kWh or 79 kWh in the Pack Two Above?
The Pack Two Above 79 costs only Rs 90,000 more ex-showroom. In return, it adds 79 km of claimed range, 41 bhp of extra power and faster 180 kW charging. Since both share the same features, the 79 kWh version offers strong value for the small price difference. However, the 70 kWh still suits buyers who mainly drive in cities and want to save a little.
