| Charging method | Charging time | Best used for |
|---|---|---|
| 7.2 kW wall charger (included) | About 6.5 hours (0 to 100%) | Overnight charging at home |
| Household socket | About 13 to 15 hours (0 to 100%) | Occasional top-ups |
| 50 kW DC fast charger | About 50 minutes (0 to 80%) | Highway and long trips |
What the Included Wall Charger Offers
The main difference in this version is the 7.2 kW AC wall box. It charges the battery more than twice as fast as a regular household socket. As a result, even a nearly empty battery is ready by morning after an overnight charge. Also, charging at home is usually much cheaper than using public fast chargers. So, for daily commuters with a dedicated parking spot, this version makes ownership far more convenient.
Is the Rs 50,000 Charger Worth It?
This version costs Rs 50,000 more than the AX5 without a charger. In return, you save around 7 to 8 hours on every full charge at home. If you drive daily and rely on home charging, the convenience quickly justifies the cost. However, if you mostly charge at office or public stations, the version without the charger may be enough.
Mahindra XUV 3XO EV AX5 Feature Highlights
The AX5 is well equipped for its price. Key features include dual-zone automatic climate control, rear AC vents and a single-pane sunroof. Also, there’s a wireless phone charger, cruise control and keyless entry with push-button start. The Adrenox app adds remote AC control, live tracking and charging history. For safety, it offers six airbags, ESP, TPMS and an electronic parking brake with auto hold.
Performance and Range
A 148 bhp front motor with 310 Nm of torque powers the AX5. It reaches 100 km/h in 8.3 seconds and offers three drive modes: Fun, Fast and Fearless. The claimed range is 351 km, while Mahindra quotes up to 285 km in real-world driving.
AX5 With Charger vs AX7L With Charger
The AX7L with charger costs Rs 15.46 lakh, which is Rs 1.07 lakh more. It adds Level 2 ADAS, a 360-degree camera, a panoramic skyroof and Harman Kardon audio. However, both share the same battery, motor and charger. So, the AX5 with charger suits buyers who want easy home charging at the lowest price.
