What's not so good
-
Large Size: It is a long car, so it can be a bit hard to find parking in crowded city areas.
-

The Kia Carens Clavis EV is a practical three-row electric MPV built primarily for families. It was introduced in India in July 2025 as a more affordable alternative to premium electric SUVs while still offering modern features. Available in both 6- and 7-seater configurations, featuring a one-touch tumble mechanism for quick access to the third row. The Clavis EV prioritises comfort, convenience, and everyday utility with several variants, a large cabin, and a feature-rich setup.

Expert Verdict
The Kia Carens Clavis EV is a groundbreaking addition to the Indian EV market, which finally bridges the gap between a family-focused MPV and a high-tech, feature-rich electric vehicle. It takes the proven practicality of the Kia Carens nameplate and refines the driving experience further with an all-electric powertrain, all while the running and maintenance costs are kept in check.
Kia Carens Clavis EV Design
The Carens Clavis EV retains a similar silhouette as the design triumph that balances a futuristic face with a solid, dependable build. It feels significantly more upscale than its internal combustion counterparts, utilising high-quality finishes and materials.
Exterior
The Kia Carens Clavis EV features a striking “Digital Tiger Face” that immediately sets it apart. Instead of a standard grille, it has a smooth, textured cover that houses various sensors. The “Star Map” LED Daytime Running Lights (DRLs) are connected across the front, creating a signature look that is hard to miss at night. On the side, you’ll find 17-inch Crystal Cut Dual Tone alloy wheels that look very premium. The rear is equally impressive, with connected LED tail lamps and robust skid plates in a high-gloss black finish.
Interior
The cabin is designed to feel like a high-tech lounge. The most noticeable feature is the dual 12.25-inch panoramic display that houses both the driver’s instrument cluster and the infotainment system. Kia has used a “Triton Navy & Beige” two-tone colour scheme with premium leatherette seats, giving the interior an airy and sophisticated feel. The “floating” center console with a sliding cover adds to the modern aesthetic, while the 64-colour ambient lighting allows you to customise the mood.
Build Quality
Being a premium electric vehicle, the build quality is top-tier. The car feels solid and well-insulated, keeping wind and road noise outside. The doors close with a heavy, satisfying sound, and the interior panels are fitted with great precision. The floor-mounted battery pack actually lowers the car’s center of gravity, making the entire vehicle feel more stable on the road.
Kia Carens Clavis EV Features
Kia has redefined the feature list for this segment, offering everything from a dual-pane panoramic sunroof to a Digital key. The inclusion of V2L technology and a premium 8-speaker Bose system ensures that it feels like a luxury vehicle.
The Carens Clavis EV is packed with high-end technology:
- Dual-Pane Panoramic Sunroof: A massive glass roof that lets you see the sky and makes the three rows feel much more open.
- Bose Premium Music System: 8 high-quality speakers specifically tuned for the silent cabin of an EV.
- Ventilated & Powered Front Seats: The front seats blow cool air to keep you dry in the heat, and the driver’s seat can be adjusted electrically at the touch of a button.
- Smart Pure Air Purifier: A built-in system with a display that constantly cleans the air inside the car.
- V2L (Vehicle-to-Load): You can plug in a laptop, a coffee maker, or even a small fridge into the car to use its battery power during a picnic.
- Multi-Drive & Terrain Modes: You can switch between Eco, Normal, and Sport modes, plus special settings for Mud, Sand, or Snow to help the car grip better.
- Digital Key 2.0: You can use your smartphone or smartwatch to unlock and start the car, so you never have to carry a physical key.
- 64-Colour Ambient Lighting: Strips of light around the cabin that you can change to match your mood.
Kia Carens Clavis EV Performance & Range
With two battery options and an impressive real-world range, this car effectively kills range anxiety for the family buyer. The 51.4 kWh Extended Range variant provides the kind of long-distance confidence needed for highway trips.
The Carens Clavis EV offers two distinct battery configurations:
- Standard Range: A 42 kWh battery providing an ARAI-certified range of 404 km.
- Extended Range: A 51.4 kWh battery providing an ARAI-certified range of 490 km.
The bigger battery pack can give anywhere between 350 and 380 km of real-world range, depending on the speed and AC usage.
The electric motor produces up to 171 hp and 255 Nm of torque. Because all that torque is available instantly, the car feels much faster than its petrol or diesel siblings. It can reach a top speed of 166 km/h, and the “i-Pedal” regenerative braking system allows you to slow down just by lifting off the accelerator, which also recharges the battery.
Kia Carens Clavis EV Ride & Handling
The ride quality is tuned for maximum passenger comfort, gliding over road imperfections with ease. While it is a large vehicle, the low-mounted battery pack gives it great stability in corners.
The suspension is designed to soak up the varied surfaces of Indian roads. Whether you are driving through city potholes or cruising on the highway, the Carens Clavis EV stays composed. The steering is light at low speeds, making it easy to park, but it gains a reassuring weight at higher speeds. The all-wheel disc brakes provide strong, consistent stopping power, which is important for a vehicle carrying up to seven passengers.
Kia Carens Clavis EV Safety
Kia has made safety a top priority, equipping the car with 18 standard safety features and a full Level 2 ADAS suite. It acts as a digital protector, using 20 advanced features to keep your family safe.
- Airbags: 6 airbags (front, side, and curtain) come as standard on every single variant.
- ADAS Level 2: Includes Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist, Smart Cruise Control with Stop & Go, and Lane Keeping Assist.
- High-Safety Package: Includes Electronic Stability Control (ESC), Hill-start Assist, and All-Wheel Disc Brakes as standard.
- 360-Degree Camera: Provides a bird’s-eye view of the car, making it simple to park in tight spots.

Kia Carens Clavis EV Charging & Warranty
The fast-charging capability and long-term battery warranty provide the security that Indian EV buyers want. Being able to charge from 10% to 80% in under 40 minutes makes it practical for long journeys.
- Fast Charging: Supports high-speed DC charging, taking the battery from 10% to 80% in just 39 minutes using a 100 kW charger.
- Home Charging: An 11 kW AC charger can fully charge the Extended Range battery in about 4 hours and 45 minutes.
- Warranty: Kia provides an 8-year or 1,60,000 km warranty on the battery, ensuring your investment is well-protected.
In a recent development, Kia also announced a lifetime battery warranty for the Carens Clavis EV, which covers the car for unlimited kilometres. But, it is only valid for first owners and is applicable for purchases since August 01, 2026. Not only the new owners, but also the existing owners of the car can purchase this extended coverage for Rs 3,400. But it would be available when the car is inspected and found to be under the policy’s terms and conditions.
Kia Carens Clavis EV Service & Network
Kia India has invested heavily in “EV-ready” service centres. Owners have access to a massive network of workshops and thousands of charging points. The “Kia Connect” app allows you to find chargers, check battery health, and book services with a single tap. Maintenance costs for the Carens Clavis EV are expected to be significantly lower than those of petrol cars because there are no oil changes or spark plugs to worry about.
Who should buy this?
The Kia Carens Clavis EV is a fantastic car for anyone who has a big family and wants to be part of the future. It is a safe, high-quality, and very comfortable machine that makes every trip feel special. Whether you are taking the kids to school or going on a long vacation, this car makes the journey easy and fun. For the “elder sibling” of the family who looks after everyone, this car is a perfect choice.
