The Ioniq 5’s 3,000 mm wheelbase is longer than many luxury SUVs, freeing up generous rear legroom. In addition, a 527-litre boot and a 57-litre frunk offer plenty of storage. However, its 160 mm ground clearance means you’ll need care over large speed breakers.

For 2026, Hyundai replaced the older 72.6 kWh battery with a larger 84 kWh pack. As a result, ARAI-certified range rose from 631 km to 690 km. In Indian real-world driving, expect roughly 500 to 550 km, enough for most intercity trips without stopping.
Motor and Performance
The Ioniq 5 uses a single rear-mounted interior permanent magnet synchronous motor, producing 225 bhp and 350 Nm. That’s enough for a 0 to 100 km/h time of about 7.5 seconds and a top speed of 185 km/h. Drivers can choose Eco, Normal, Sport and Snow modes, plus four regen levels using paddles.

Thanks to its 800V electrical system, the Ioniq 5 is one of the fastest-charging EVs in India. However, most Indian public chargers currently offer much less than 350 kW, so real charging times will often be longer.
Suspension, Tyres and Brakes
The Ioniq 5 uses MacPherson strut front suspension and a multi-link rear setup. It rides on large 20-inch aero alloys with 255/45 R20 tyres. In addition, disc brakes come on all four wheels, and a tyre mobility kit replaces a spare wheel.
