Expert Verdict

For a family that wants a smooth transition to electric without learning a whole new “car language,” the Hyundai Creta EV is a very safe and polished bet.

Hyundai Creta Electric Design

★ 8.5/10

Exterior

At first glance, it looks like a Creta, but look closer and the “electric” touches stand out. You get a closed-off front grille with a cool “pixel” pattern, a charging port hidden right at the front, and special 17-inch aero wheels designed to cut through the wind. The lighting is signature Hyundai, with LED bars at the front and back that give it a very modern, premium look. With 200mm of ground clearance, it’s still very much an SUV that can handle rough Indian roads and flooded streets.

Interior

The cabin is where you feel the real upgrade. You get two massive 10.25-inch screens joined together in one curved panel. It looks very futuristic. The materials feel a notch above the standard Creta, with bits of “ocean blue” stitching and ambient lighting that changes based on your drive mode. One small catch: while the layout is beautiful, the center console uses a lot of “gloss black” plastic, which is a magnet for fingerprints and dust.

Build Quality

Hyundai is known for great fit and finish, and the Creta EV is no different. Everything feels tightly screwed together. There’s a reassuring “solidness” to the doors, and unlike some rivals, you won’t find many uneven gaps in the dashboard. It feels like a car built to last for a decade.

Hyundai Creta Electric Features

Hyundai usually wins the “feature war,” and they’ve pulled out all the stops here:

Panoramic Sunroof: It’s huge and makes the cabin feel very airy.
V2L (Vehicle-to-Load): You can actually plug your laptop, a coffee maker, or even another EV into your car and use it as a giant power bank.
Ventilated Seats: A savior for our climate.
Smart Connectivity: Over 70+ connected car features, including remote AC control and “Level 2 ADAS which handles things like emergency braking and lane-keeping.

One thing we missed? A “frunk” (front trunk). Under the hood is mostly taken up by the motor and electronics, so you don’t get that extra storage space some other EVs offer.

Hyundai Creta Electric Performance & Range

★ 6.5/10

The Creta EV comes with two battery options: a 42 kWh battery and a 51.4 kWh “Long Range” version. We tested the larger one, which produces 171 hp and 255 Nm of torque.

Driving Experience

It’s surprisingly quick. It can hit 0–100 kmph in about 8 seconds. The power comes on smoothly, so it doesn’t feel jerky. You get three modes: Eco, Normal, and Sport.

Eco is great for getting the best out of the battery.
Normal feels just like a regular petrol car. Not too punchy and not to sluggish.
Sport makes the steering heavier and the throttle much more sensitive.

While the official range is 510 km for the large battery:

City Driving: You should easily get 400–430 km.
Highway Driving: If you’re doing 100-110 kmph, expect it to drop to around 320–340 km.
Charging: Using a 50kW fast charger, you can go from 10% to 80% in 58 minutes. At home, a full charge takes about 8 to 10 hours.

While the rivals are coming up with better capacities for fast charging, Hyundai Creta EV is offering up to 50kW, which can be improved.

Hyundai Creta Electric Ride & Handling

★ 6.5/10

Because of the heavy battery, Hyundai has stiffened the suspension. The result? The Creta EV feels more planted than the petrol version. It doesn’t lean as much in corners.

However, you will feel sharp bumps a bit more. It’s not “bouncy,” but it’s definitely firmer. The steering is light and easy for city U-turns, though it lacks that “connected” feel that driving enthusiasts might want. Overall, the ride and handling are good, but surely can be improved.

Hyundai Creta Electric Safety

Safety is a huge priority here. Although there is no official crash test rating for the Hyundai Creta EV, we do feel that it has been built strong. And not only that, it is packed with tech to improve the overall safety of the occupants.

6 Airbags as standard.
All-wheel disc brakes for better stopping power.
360-degree camera with a blind-view monitor (it shows you the lane next to you on the dashboard when you turn on the indicator).
ADAS Level 2: The radar and cameras work well, though the lane-keep assist can feel a bit intrusive on narrow city roads.

Hyundai Creta Electric Space & Comfort

The Creta EV is a genuine 5-seater.

Rear Seat: Unlike some other EVs, where the floor is so high your knees are up near your chest, Hyundai has managed to keep the floor relatively low. You get decent under-thigh support and plenty of legroom.
Boot Space: At 433 liters, it’s practical enough for a family road trip. You can fit two large suitcases and a few smaller bags without a struggle.

Hyundai Creta Electric Charging & Warranty

The Hyundai Creta EV comes with a standard 3-year / unlimited kms warranty on the vehicle and an 8-year / 160,000kms warranty for the battery and motor. For charging, a 2026 update has boosted DC fast-charging support to 100kW, allowing a 10–80% charge in just 39 minutes. Home charging via an 11kW AC wall-box takes approximately 4 hours and 50 minutes for a full charge. Higher trims also offer V2L (Vehicle-to-Load), letting you power external appliances directly from the car.

Hyundai Creta Electric Service & Network

★ 8/10

This is where Hyundai shines.

Battery Warranty: 8 years or 1,60,000 km, which gives you total peace of mind.
Network: Hyundai’s service network is the second largest in India, and most of their workshops are now “EV-ready.” You won’t have to worry about finding a mechanic.
