Expert Verdict
Ather 450 Apex brings the right balance of power, speed and ride experience. The power is linear but can be felt in the Warp+ mode. It’s distinctive and agressive looks, performance-oriented DNA will be liked by the young riders.
Ather 450 Apex Design
The Ather 450 Apex is a marvel of scooters when it comes to how well the scooter is designed. It carries a very sporty, sharp and agressive look similar to the Ather 450x but has a unique transparent side panels that shows off the skeleton or the orange aluminium frame of the bike. This adds a badass character to the scooter young riders will definitely like.
Ather 450 Apex Features
The scooter packs all the needed features and a few unique ones particular to this electric scooter. It comes with a very interactive TFT touch display, warp+ mode, mobile phone connectivity, voice assist, magic twist, infinite cruise, traction control, park assist and auto hold. We were more than happy of the features that is packed in this scooter.
Ather 450 Apex Performance & Range
The scooter amazes you with the performance it can deliver. It can clock a top speed of 100 kmph and the Warp+ mode is amazing to ride, especially on the open roads. The motor delivers linear power and overall build provides a confident ride. We are more than satisfied with how the scooter rides.
The range is not really a upside with the Ather 450 Apex. The scooter gives a real world range of around 95 to 100 kms (riding with a mix of all the modes) which we felt is not really up to the mark. We’d expect a better range from a scooter costing you upwards of 2 lakhs on-road.
Ather 450 Apex Ride & Handling
The ride and handling is comfortable for someone of short or medium height. If you are above 6 feet tall, expect the scooter to be a little cramped up. We felt controlling this scooter is pretty easy compared to others, even at higher speeds.
Build quality is very well done and you get the confidence to easily zip through the traffic and ride it at higher speeds. We felt the suspension is stiff and is tuned for sportiness because of which the comfort is not it’s top offering.
Ather 450 Apex Safety
450 Apex doesn’t fall too behind the best in the market when it comes to safety. It’ll have you covered with all the basics and some extra. It features dual disk brakes, auto hold, infinite cruise, traction control, TPMS, etc. You’ll get everything with the bike in a single package.
The only thing we felt missing is the ABS (Anti-lock braking system) which should have been added considering it is a performance-oriented scooter.
Ather 450 Apex Space & Comfort
The seats are pretty narrow and someone with heavy build might find it a little challenging or difficult to live with. The sitting posture is upright and the seat height (780 mm) is pretty comfortable for most of the riders.
We felt the space between the seat and the handle is less and especially if you are tall, you can expect the legs to touch the handle. It has 22 litres of under seat storage which can accommodate a half sized helmet. We feel it is pretty small.
Ather 450 Apex Charging & Warranty
The scooter takes over 5.5 hours to charge from 0% to 100% using a home charger. This is pretty standard and acceptable for a scooter which houses 3.7 kWh battery. There is possibility of fast charging using the Ather Grid, but we have not tested it.
The warranty is also pretty straight forward – 5 years or 60,000 km for the battery and 3 years or 30,000 for the scooter. While there are options to extend the warranty along with road side assistance, we feel the standard offering should be more than sufficient.
